Updates as 12/13/2010

Note to Banks: don't post updates until I have done them. It makes you seem more important that the rest of us.

1. Buscemi $993,490,089 (10/4/2)
2. Tranny $875,426,881 (11/7/1)
3. Banks $856,045,990 (7/3/5)
4. Barca $802,544,104 (11/8/1)
5. Monkey $690,457,718 (11/7/1)
6. Surfer $609,395,170 (7/4/5)
7. W $501,613,207 (7/4/5)
8. Shryke $411,675,507 (6/4/6)

Opened:
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Tourist

Closed:
Toy Story 3, Saw 3-D, Let Me In

I continue to build my lead as second place Tranny's Faster and The Fighter (only in four theatres until Friday, however) are proving to be no match for my Tangled. Third place Banks has no Christmas titles so expect him to fall further behind (his next title is The Dilemma, which is surprisingly tracking at high 30's despite Vince Vaughn's assholish behavior towards gays and environmentally-friendly cars and the film's sameness to other Vaughn films). Barca looks pretty much dead while Monkey's two new releases falter (only giving him $40 million combined). However, expect W to make a run for the lead. His next three films could hit $100 million each.

As of 1/4/2011:

1. Buscemi $1,139,425,341 (11/6/1)
2. Tranny $924,184,410 (11/7/1)
3. Banks $865,272,943 (7/3/5)
4. Barca $804,937,930 (11/8/1)
5. Monkey $793,494,112 (11/8/1)
6. W $670,740,367 (9/5/3)
7. Surfer $668,116,296 (9/4/3)
8. Shryke $549,049,298 (7/4/5)

Opened:
Tron Legacy, Yogi Bear, How Do You Know, Little Fockers, True Grit, Gulliver's Travels

Closed:
You Again, Skyline, Easy A, Wall Street 2

The $1 billion milestone has been passed by yours truly as the surprise success of True Grit has helped me build a $215 million lead over Tranny. Monkey has a shot of passing Barca for fourth while Banks is waiting patiently for The Dilemma to open (since people don't mind Vince Vaughn's enormous ego always making the same movie again and again). W has passed Surfer and hopes to pass Monkey with The Green Hornet. Shryke meanwhile is sitting in the cellar, waiting for Just Go With It and Rango to vault him from last.

Well, I'm easily the most back-loaded of anyone. When does the league end, Boosh? End of May? (I want to know how many weeks of Fast Five I can glean.)

And when are we going to do the draft for the 2011-12 season?

The season ends on May 1st, so you get one weekend of Fast Five.

I figure we begin the draft in March or April. We will need to determine the draft order first.

Also, I'm hoping for a lineup expansion to 14 titles. I feel that this will create a closer competition while helping titles that were ignored get picked (such as Black Swan).

Tranny and Busc both only have 1 title left, while I have FIVE. So I think I'm in good shape :)

But you will need an average of at least $50 million from those titles. I'm not sure if you can do it.

Hey is it too late to pick up No Strings Attached? I meant to do it last night but I forgot. I figured since there are no numbers out for it yet that it'd be cool.

If it's not too late, I wanna replace Hall Pass for NSA.

Finally, a new update.

1. Buscemi $1,228,787,060 (11/4/1)
2. Tranny $957,098,563 (11/3/1)
3. Banks $908,810,475 (8/2/4)
4. Monkey $823,106,829 (11/3/1)
5. W $818,626,125 (10/3/2)
6. Barca $806,054,383 (11/1/1)
7. Surfer $715,583,282 (9/2/3)
8. Shryke $586,041,094 (7/2/5)

My lead over Tranny has increased to $271 million (who would have guessed that True Grit would still be in the Top 10?). Meanwhile, Barca has dropped to sixth due to good Christmas and January performances from Monkey and W (W could get to fourth if The Green Hornet manages a weekend of at least $5 million). And Banks's The Dilemma has fallen flat on its face, which decreases his chances of passing me in the next few months.

Anyways, here are the goals that one would need to meet to pass me at this point.

Tranny: $271 million (one film)
Banks: $80 million (four films)
Monkey: $406 million (one film)
W $205 million (two films)
Barca $423 million (one film)
Surfer $257 million (two films)
Shryke $129 million (five films)

The update isn't ready yet (still waiting on a few titles) but it is safe to say that Monkey is out of it after an $8 million opening on The Eagle. You had a great run (I would have never guessed that Robin Hood, The Karate Kid and The Social Network would do well) but better luck next year.

The next person to have their final title open is Tranny with Friday's release of Unknown.

I'm bored so I tallied up some numbers, and based on this weekends estimates, I'm currently $289,548,010 behind Buscemi right now.

It's quite improbable that I catch up, but not quite impossible.

I'm more than likely end up 2nd this year.

You'll need your last three films to average $90 million. Seeing that the current estimates aren't favorable, I don't think you can do it.
