Apparently, Aviron is nearing insolvency. They didn't have any money to promote A Private War or Serenity. And on the latter, they didn't even bother to tell the stars until the day before opening.

Is this really suprising? They seem to go years between their releases, and only one of them was well recieved (although their Relativity pickups did okay compared to expectations).

The company has only been around as a distributor for two years (My All-American was released through Focus). They released five films during that time, two of which made some money.
