Bad news for W. since Godzilla 2 was moved out of the season, and into next summer.

I'm happy w/ Book Club so far, seems like it's going to be a good 9th round pick for me. Can't wrap my head around Deadpool 2 yet. I picked it up late in the first round, so I think it's going to end up being not a good/not bad pick up.

I'm on edge waiting to hear some Oceans 8 numbers. Last year, everything i had flopped or at least failed to hit expectations. Got much higher expectations for Oceans 8 and Incredibles.

But it wasn't the hit Warner Bros. was expecting. With Incredibles 2 and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom arriving, it's going to take a hit instead of playing like one.

I'm thinking it tops out at $110 million. Decent but below the previous three.

What do you think they were hoping for? 12 and 13 only did 120 million and those were on bigger budgets. I think they're pretty happy right now.

It's been more than a decade since Ocean's 13 (which adjusted in 2018 dollars hits $156 million). With Warner Bros. hyping this as the start of a new franchise (and trailers running since Christmas), I can't help but think they were expecting $50-55 million opening weekend combined with strong legs to reach the raw numbers of the first Clooney installment.

Also, Sandra Bullock is still a box office draw. The combined star wattage of Bullock, Anne Hathaway, Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling, and Helena Bonham Carter (plus James Corden, who's a familiar face on TV and just got a film franchise of his own) should have been more than $41.5 million (Gravity was just her and Clooney and that set records for its time of month).

If anything, this and Ghostbusters suggests the film industry still doesn't understand women. There's a market for female-led films that aren't based on old IP's. Films like Frozen, Hidden Figures, and A Quiet Place proved this but what's the new big announcement? Legally Blonde 3. The second was a cheap cash-in that destroyed that franchise. So why another?

We need more Megan Ellisons and less Scott Rudins running the show. You can't just hide behind a hashtag and continue to do what you were doing in hopes that no one will notice.
