While it's not going to break any records, I have to say I'm satisfied with the opening for Breaking In. $17m OW should translate to around $35-40m, hopefully, which for an 11th round pick you can't really ask for more. It's even giving UDM's 7th round pick a good run for it's money. Now if the rest of my slate can match or exceed this performance, I might be on to something this year other than spending most of the game in the basement!

Same here. I took it 15 picks earlier but even at $30M, it's adequate value at that spot. And I suspect it finishes closer to $40M+ than it does $30M. Don't always need the home run, sometimes a good double is nice. ;)

Didn't realize that Ron has to wait until August for his first to open. I guess he'll be a spectator for the time being.

I'm OK with my decision to bypass Avengers for the moment. It's performing exactly as I was expecting for it's first couple of weeks in play (almost to the dollar!), and I still think it will, despite the good word of mouth probably top out for game purposes a little over $300m, maybe $330m at a push. I'm fairly confident Ms Danvers can outdo that. Will be interesting to see how Avengers holds now it actually will have some competition over the next few weekends too.

I will take $300-330. For a #5 pick, that's damn good. I'll take that in a New York minute. I have a hard time imagining any of the OTHER movies that I could have picked at #5 doing that well.

No doubt, at #5, $300-330m is nothing to be sniffed at, but I wanted something with the potential for $400m+. With Avengers losing its first weekend, I was never confident it could achieve that. I played fairly safe in the first round last year and look where that got me.

Captain Marvel seemed like the best bet for a good floor/ high potential ceiling, and I was willing to forgo the safe $300-330m of Avengers to get that. I want the best possible chance of promotion to Division A, and for me Captain Marvel gives me a good basis for that.

Can I ask what would you have done in my position? Would you have still taken Avengers' safe box office or taken the gamble?

Honestly, I'm not sure. Captain Marvel is the obvious lead in to Avengers: Infinity War II, and it will have a full two months to make its hay before that one comes out. That being said, I may have still opted to take the safe route and picked Avengers anyway. Now we'll never know...
