I'm pretty sure the only reason I picked it up was because you drafted it in Div B, so thanks for the tip! Although hearing it was a Clint film, I knew there was a good chance it would be finished and ready for release mighty quickly.

Yeah, that was my reasoning, too: He comes in under budget and in very short order. I had heard this could be his last-ever film (and that is increasingly seeming the case, although, in typical Clint fashion, the milestone is passing without fanfare or drama), so I figured if WB was going to roll it out -- ESPECIALLY if it might be an awards contender -- it would be at the holidays, sooner instead of later. It was a good gamble.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if "Us" bows to $60M, maybe even a bit higher. I am certainly going to move mountains to see it by Sunday night. Herald, pack your bags. You're leaving the basement, never to return. :)

Not sure your calculations are correct there, Shryke. I was at $693m last weekend, and even discounting Captain Marvels midweek totals, I brought in more than $105m this weekend yet only sit with $760m? My calculations have me around about $830m, looks like you forgot to add the totals from Us?

So, I saw "Us" tonight. This should be a $200M film, and I believe it could be. Herald, I think you're going to be a damn tough beat this Season.

Us hasn't been as popular with audiences as Get Out. I think it fails to pass it.

That would be a shame, because I believe "Us" is a superior film.

Btw: 182 minutes for "4vengers". That's GOT to.impact OW revenues, yes?

Audiences love big, long(-ish) films (see Gone with the Wind and nine of the ten highest grossing films in terms of raw dollars*). If anything, a three-hour run time will help Endgame at the box office as viewers will find that they got their money's worth.

* - The highest grossing film under two hours, Incredibles 2, actually is over two if you add Bao to the run time. That would make Finding Dory (#13 all-time domestic) the most successful in raw dollars running under two hours if one does this.

Right, I'm not arguing that a 3-hour(-plus) runtime will hurt "Avenged Fourfold"'s long-term prospects, but that sort of longevity limits per-screen showings from five to four in the course of a normal cinema day. Unless the movie opens on five thousand screens, that's GOING to impact earnings.

Avengers is immune to everything. Anyone who watched Infinity Wars will watch it regardless. You'll sooner see theatres opening earlier and closing later than losing screenings. ALL HAIL OUR NEW DISNEY OVERLORDS

You know... I'm just sayin': I don't think I have this Season wrapped up, folks. "Captain Marvel" is going to be a $450M movie. "Shazam!" Is looking like at least a $200M picture. Dumbo" could easily do $150M. "Little" is capable of $85M. And I think "Penguins" might eclipse $30M. I think we're heading for at least a three-way photo finish, just like Div A.

Little looks like a disaster. We saw this premise in a boatload of 80's films (and 80's nostalgia has long been on the way out) and Issa Rae is not a movie star. Also, Shazam beats it into theatres by a week.

I'm thinking it plays out like a lower-tier Will Packer production, such as last year's Breaking In.

I think you are being overly optimistic on my behalf there, Nico. I mean, you are currently at $1.15b with a movie heading towards a $200m minimum opening. So that gives you at least $1.35b as a target. Now say Captain Marvel has another $70m in her (at the high end), and say Us has another $130m even, that still only takes me to around $1.03b, and Shazam only has 4 weekends in play, so say another $150m. So a grand total in the region of $1.2b if I'm lucky.

Now if Dark Phoenix had kept its date and I had a no. 2 draft movie on my slate, it would perhaps not be do clear cut, but it is what it is, a consequence on drafting late I guess.

I think the title is pretty safe, so get a spot ready on your shelf!

You think "Captain Marvel" only has another $70M in the tank? It's holding A LOT better than, say, "Captain America: Civil War". Still, I'll take all the help I can get. And I ain't counting my chickens 'til they're in the McNuggets.
