Taking Mary Poppins over Deadpool 2 turned out to be a huge mistake.

"Crazy Rich Asians" was one HELL of a fifth-round pick, UDM. Props.

It was. And conversely, Robin Hood was a terrible 6th round pick. I think it actually did worse than that awful King Arthur movie. Sorry, weissac.

And after all that hype, Vox Lux couldn't even crack a million dollars. Yikes.

Vox Lux was doomed after the final trailer gave away so much. That and Neon expanding so quickly when they should have put some of that expansion money into Border and Bodied.

Thanks Nico, but what is even more impressive, is that you picked last and with avengers first week yet to come, you will take first place. Now that's impressive.

I'm just hoping for second place at this point.

On this episode of what the fuck was Brock thinking:

7/27 Teen Titans Go! To the Movies (5) - $29,562,341 (finished)
8/10 Slender Man (6) - $30,569,484 (finished)
11/9 The Girl in the Spider's Web (7) - $14,841,338 (finished)
12/25 Holmes & Watson (3) - $28,313,749

You can't win this game when you fuck up your mid round picks this bad. Gross.

I'm very glad I was able to touch the Top 3 this season, though I won't be there come March.

This is my first season front-loading my slate, we'll see if I can hang on for a decent finish.

DAMN MARY POPPINS  It'll barely outdo Fantastic Beasts, but easily is the worst pick out of the Top 9.

More Mary Poppins griping:

It'll be outgrossed by every Round 1 pick, except Fantastic Beasts (and that'll be close).

It'll be outgrossed by Round 2 pick released so far (Venom, Aquaman, Wreck-It Ralph 2, Hotel Transylvania 3, Mission Impossible 6), except 1 (Ocean's 8).

It'll likely be outgrossed by the entirety of the Round 2 picks to be released this year (LEGO Movie 2, Dumbo) and even Godzilla & Dark Phoenix (though those were pushed out of season).

I'ts been outgrossed by two Round 3 picks, two Round 4 picks, and two Round 5 picks.

(And oddly, there's no plans for a Sing-Along version? Every musical gets one these days!)

I'm never going to watch it out of spite.

Don't feel too bad, I had it rated #4 on my pre-draft board and my guestimate was $350M.

If Mary Poppins hit projections, I wouldn't be getting demoted. It didn't help that everything I wanted went right before the dreaded 10 pick but man, what a dud... how does a Disney musical released in the holiday frame not hit $200M? And they clearly didn't hit the right notes because the legs have been terrible too. What a disappointment.

The WOM hasn't been great. Audiences liked but were underwhelmed, and the songs just aren't catchy enough for singalong version to get audiences in. Mary Poppins Returns is a great idea on paper, but in relaity it just didn't work out.

Thanks, UDM. I'm not counting my chickens until they're in the nuggets, tho. There are some players left who can make BANK and make a run for the Div B title. And I only get 3 days and a night of previews for "4vengers"... Less than what I thought I'd have it for when I drafted it back in May. I think $1.45, $1.5B wins the Division. I SHOULD get close to that, but others may, too. I do NOT expect to run away with it.

And all this, so I can pick last in Div A, probably, in a few months. What a reward! ;) J/k

"Aquaman" is looking to hit $300M Sunday. I'm thinking it might just out-earn "Guardians of the Galaxy" ($333M), after all.

Which is nice.
