Maybe I'll have a couple of weekends in the Top 3 before The Grinch opens and propels Boosch well ahead of me.

Six, yes (though Vox Lux looks far too pretentious to sell to a mainstream audience). Chien, 1 for 3 would be a Hall of Fame average in Major League Baseball.

Yep, it's all in on the end of the year.I'm hoping Instant Family will have solid legs despite the disappointing start, and I know A Star is Born is far from over.

Let's not talk about Robin Hood, please, but Mortal Engines should do decent numbers, fans of the book and Peter Jackson's name helping, even if it won't be the hit of the holiday season that's for sure.
As for Spiderverse, I'm pretty confident with this one. There's already been a press screening here in Paris and I've only heard amazing things about it. I'm hoping it can grab $150M, even if deep down I'm rooting for even more.

I'm not very high on Mortal Engines. The film looks very unoriginal and steampunk is more something with cult appeal. Universal looks to be 0/2 in December (Welcome to Marwen could very well be the bomb of the holiday season, as Zemeckis seems to have turned its subject, already covered in a well-regarded documentary, into some weird incel who has a thing for Real Dolls).

I'm not very high on it myself to be honest, but I still think that the fans of the book and the Peter jackson connection shouold be enough to grab 60 or 70 millions, and if Spiderverse is the success I hope it will be, I'll be happy with that number from Mortal Engines.

I think Spidey is going to kill Mortal Engines, which is a bit of a non-starter. At least you've both, Chien ;)

And Boosch, I'm inclined to agree about Vox Lux. At first I thought it was a breakout arthouse flick with Portman involved, but she's not in it that much, and it now seems more niche than I thought. I'm only expecting around $5m from it now. Anything more will be a surprise. So now I'm relying on Creed and The Mule to surpass expectations and compensate for my Round 2 pick moving into next summer. This year it's all about me trying to stay in Division A.

Neon seems to be having more misses than hits lately. With the exception of Three Identical Strangers, their films have either flopped (Assassination Nation, Gemini, Borg vs. McEnroe, nearly everything released through Super Ltd.) or haven't been handled very well (Monsters and Men, Border, Bodied). It seems like the 30West deal has done more harm than good as with the exception of Assassination Nation (I'd estimate around $18-20 million was spent altogether on this one), they've kept their more big ticket films such as Colette and Destroyer to be distributed by companies with more capital (though Annapurna's been in trouble, more than likely hurting Destroyer). With Vox Lux, they seemed to think this would be their I, Tonya for 2018 but Brady Corbet is not a mainstream filmmaker.

Neon could be a player like A24 or Bleecker Street but they are putting their money in the wrong places and not capitalizing on buzz (especially on Border, this could have played a lot better than it has based on positive response and the Let the Right One In connection). Also, why is 30West working with other companies if they planned to put so much money into Neon? I wonder what these venture capitalists are thinking when they get into film (see Relativity and Broad Green).

I'm sure Mortal Engines, though it won't be a blockbuster, will do just fine for me, as long as I don't have huge expectations about it. Spiderverse is the one I'm counting on.
