I hope Ready Player One is gonna do much better than what the tracking suggest. If Pacific Rim 2 can open to $28M, which is honestly better than I hoped for, surely RPO can do much better than that. I need it to so I can have a shot at #1. At least #2 !!

I like the way you think ;)

I hope this is how it plays out even though I didn't think there was a chance I'd even be close at the end of 2017. Then again, I didn't expect Black Panther to make up literally half of my box office take so...

Marvel also had originally planned this as a two parter with next year's film, and the first half of films have tended to have terrible holds. They have seemed to shy away from that in the marketing, but how much you want to bet that Infinity War ends with a cliffhanger.

None of the new Star Wars films have made less than $500M, but Solo just does not seem to have the buzz that the others have had. Plus it's only been 5 months since the last film. Does anyone care?

Can Deadpool strike twice and make $300M again.... or Jurassic World with $600M, for that matter...

maybe in a month from now, things will be more clear, who knows
I'm with you UDM. Look like I'm picking first in the A league, and Avengers was an easy choice. Now, I'm not so sure. Although, yes, choosing Coco over Superheroes did me in too, so I'm inclined to pick Ant-man vs. Venom in the Shazam-verse as my first pick next year.

Can’t believe this year is almost over. I’m not ready to start prepping for 2018-2019 game yet. Who’s the surprise new player? When do we start the draft thread? Anyone start prepping yet? What movies are you guys excited about in the next year? Off the top of my head the only movie I’m looking forward to is The Irishman but that’s a Netflix release.

Nico is the surprise player !
And I realized yesterday that the new draft was closely approaching, I'll probably start studying the year ahead in the coming week to prepare for it...

The draft will likely start the final Monday of April, though if there are no races that are so close that we need to wait for the final numbers to be posted on Sunday to determine the next season's draft order, we may start on Sunday.

Nicodemus, a former member (who was there at the very beginning) is returning for the game. You may not know him, but he's actually the guy who inspired me to become a columnust (and then a novelist). He's as smart, funny, and opinionated as they come. You'll like him.

Hey Chien, I just started doing a little prep this week. It's a different draft for me than I've eve done. I've almost always picked at the end of the first round, this year I think I'm picking first. So I've got to choose between the top few (way harder this year thanks to the Avengers date change) and then I wait for 19 movies to go off the board. I know the first pick has often been the issue of death in these drafts but I'm aiming to break the streak.

And it'll be fun to have one of the OG in the draft. Not sure if we crossed paths before or not. I've been around awhile, but you guys were doing this long before me I'm pretty sure.

I'm getting on it this week. This is my favorite time of the year on the boards coming up. The film searching and of course the draft in itself. It's gonna be fun. I drafted 2nd last year, I'll probably be a few more places down this year. Can't wait for it.

I started my draft sheet last week and I'm through projections for about 75 films now so I'm making good pace... but the real challenge comes from finding the undated sleepers which I haven't even attempted yet. Still, the draft is one of my favorites! :D

So in review: My 3 best picks this year - The Greatest Showman in 4 - Wonder in 6, I can only Imagine off the waiver. If that's the best I've got I should be happy with 7th.

Worst picks - The House in 3, A Wrinkle in Time in 2. Got to do better this year. My mid round picks weren't great, but didn't kill me. If my 2nd round pick barely cracks 100 million and 3rd rounder scrapes 30 you can't win with that garbage.
