I'm guessing Shaan will be the one overthrowing me from 1st place, with 3 films of his coming in the next 3 weeks. Unless the combination of Cars 3 and Spiderman makes W climb the ladder very fast.

3.8 million opening for a 14th round pick doesn't feel too bad actually. Hope I get slightly more out of The House however.

And Megan Leavey got an A Cinemascore so it should be good for a $12-15 million finish.

Monkey may need to replace Samson, as it has lost its date.

Once you do, posting a picture of you as Wonder Woman is expected, obviously.

Maybe he'll take it while on Wonder Wheel with Wonder. They'll be Wonderstruck.

Re: 2017-18 Full Year Slates (Division A)
Has anybody had a decent 3rd round pick yet? I'm not at all convinced that The House is going to be the first one.
And how crazy will it be if 47 Meters down could have been the movie that pushed somebody's slate over the top - but we all passed cause the Trailer looked terrible!

Indeed the 3 third round picks that have been released so far have had disappointing results. On the paper there are a few though that looks good. but who knows what will happen once they're released...Walleye413 wrote:Has anybody had a decent 3rd round pick yet? I actually met the Head of Development for the company who made 47 Metres Down. I congratulated him on a surprise success. He said it wasn't such a surprise . That said, this time last year Weinstein Co owned it and had so little faith that they just released it on DVD, but the producers made them recall them and broker a deal with a new company. Certainly the right move.

Re: 2017-18 Full Year Slates (Division A)
I wonder if that's going to be a new trend. Release the movie on DVD and Blu-ray (some BD-R's made it out there before the recall) for a limited run, pull it out of print, build demand via third-party merchants jacking up the price and bootlegs based on said discs, and then release it theatrically in a slightly reworked version through a deal with a major chain.
Maybe someone will finally pick up the US rights to Before I Wake (the one Relativity film that has yet to find a new distributor and it was filmed four years ago, it's been rumored to be with Aviron though Netflix could easily buy it and sneak it out there like they did Hush) or some other film that should have come out years ago and give it a new discovery (does MGM still have The Poughkeepsie Tapes?).
