Creed 2!?

That IS a bold TBA pick, surely it's not getting a release date date before May 2018. If it is, I'll eat my own shoe...

Assuming Coogler's still directing, the earliest I'd expect it is November 2018. He's hard at work on Black Panther.

Buscemi wrote:Drafthouse has way more than five theatres. In fact, they are getting bigger by franchising the brand. They pretty much have Texas in its grasp and they will only become larger as other companies copy its model (if they're irrevelant, then why did AMC basically rip off Drafthouse with its Fork & Screen concept?).

And no distributor is going to want Bright, especially with Netflix's insistence on opening for Christmas. Who is going to want to see a Max Landis-scripted movie about elves in the future when you have Star Wars, Jumanji, Pitch Perfect, new films from Spielberg, Alexander Payne, and Paul Thomas Anderson, The Greatest Showman on Earth, and a Tesla-themed film with Benedict Cumberbatch? The only person who thinks this will play is also the guy who financed it. Reed Hastings is nothing more than a delusional billionaire who thinks a little too highly of himself. And the Cannes thing is proof that no one wants to play ball with him unless he can learn to follow the rules. And I'm afraid he'll never learn unless Netflix begins to lose money.
Drafthouse has only 17 theaters outside of Texas. It's irrelevant in every sense of the word. AMC has almost 700 theaters in America, and Regal has almost 600. Drafthouse means nothing, in distribution terms.

And the competition argument is moot - you can make that argument for not scheduling any of those films you listed? "Who is going to want to see a 20 year old sequel to an average-at-best 90s kids movie with none of the original stars when you have Star Wars, Pitch Perfect, new films from Spielberg, Alexander Payne, and Paul Thomas Anderson, The Greatest Showman on Earth, and a Tesla-themed film with Benedict Cumberbatch? "

And I'm assuming we can now add Netflix to your growing list of Things Buscemi Irrationally Hates, alongside Jennifer Lawrence, military movies, and Ryan Reynolds?

Time for my last pick.

I'll take Early Man and hope it can do Shaun the Sheep numbers.

Buscemi wrote:I'm calling it a bad pick because it's 95% likely that it won't report box office. But why am I arguing with someone who thought Warner Bros. would pit Wonder Woman (I still can't believe that pick was allowed) against Beauty and the Beast because they didn't like Charlie Hunnam?

And you can still find stuff in the 16th. Last year, I picked Hell or High Water there.
I'd be upset too if I'd never been promoted out of Division B either.
And if I threw away my 3rd round pick on Wonder...

Whoa. Harsh, dude. (And not necessarily unwarranted)

Edit: Google image "peace pipe" if you have a moment. There are some incredible pieces out there. We should all get together, get our smoke on and watch stoner movies.

Sorry about the delay. I had a few Friday night drinks and crashed.
I'll take a place holder as a place holder - Untitled Universal Monsters Franchise Film (4/13/17)

Not sure if Buscemi is changing his list from the last round, I assume not. If so, his final pick is The Man Who Invented Christmas

That's what I was going to pick. Dan Stevens (The Beast) as Charles Dickens could really surprise in November. I also think it's a safer option than Goodbye, Christopher Robin.

That will be interesting to see if it gets a distributor any time soon. I could see Fox picking it up but it depends on how Battle of the Sexes plays.

Anyway, Surfer selects Under the Silver Lake. And has anyone come into contact with Ron? He should still be awake.

Ron selects 'The Party's Just Beginning'. Conveniently, he is at a party right now and asked me to pick for him!

That's not his pick, Surf, he's just really drunk and trying to tell you what's going on in his life.

His next picks will be "I Love you, dude", followed by "Let's get a kebab"
