Well, he has been online and posted in another thread, and I've messaged him already. Will just have to wait and see.

Sorry, my Internet was out all weekend and I was catching up on things.

I'll select Coco and hope for more Inside Out than The Good Dinosaur. I also believe it to be safer than Cars 3 due to the Thanksgiving spot and wider audience appeal. As for the Oscar bonus, no.

I hope picking Coco over Wonder Woman doesn't hurt me. I thought it had already been taken (then I noticed it was Justice League).

Well, Gore Verbinski has stepped aside to give the directing reins of his franchise to two guys I've never heard of, but I'm going to take

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and pray like hell that my instincts are right. The last one, which sucked, still did $240M. I'll be happy with $200M. Let's just hope there are still a few Cap'n Jack fans out there.

Your turn, tranny. Leave me something good.

The directors of Dead Men Tell No Tales did Kon-Tiki and the Penelope Cruz/Salma Hayek action film Bandidas. And Verbinski gave the reins to Rob Marshall for On Stranger Tides to do Rango (a very good career move).

I'm quite surprised by the love for A Wrinkle In Time at this stage. Yes, it's Disney, but anyone hoping for Beauty and the Beast or even Jungle Book numbers are in for a surprise I think. This does not have the same built in audience and will have quite a few movies to compete with. It could get a boost and hit $250m, but I'd be equally unsurprised if it made $150m. I wouldn't have taken it until the third round, myself.

I almost went with Black Panther over it, but a Disney-produced fairy tale has too much upside for me to pass up on.

A lot of it is because it's based on a beloved novel and it's from the writer of Frozen (and Ava DuVernay's directing). It's also the first theatrical adaptation of the novel as well as perhaps being the first one that will be competently made (the TV version, produced by the Weinsteins, was chopped in half and spent two years on the shelf before finally coming out). And even if doesn't score in the US, it will do well internationally (another recent family-aimed adaptation of a popular novel, A Dog's Purpose, killed in China).

Meanwhile, the Disney movie that's the biggest wild card is Magic Camp. It's not from one of the brands and it's an original idea. Also, can Gillian Jacobs carry a film? Her co-star Adam Devine (why is Hollywood pushing this smug bro-ified Jack Black?) certainly can't and Jacobs' other film roles have not been promising.

Disney could put out a vehicle with Tony Danza and Yasmine Bleeth in the lead roles and it would still fucking light up the box office. They're pretty much untouchable right now.

edit: Nevermind. Just read the premise for Magic Camp and I don't even think DIsney can sell that shit.

Sounds like a good idea for a sequel to The Chase
