Six should be up in four hours or so, according to his last post. So we can take a breath. I have to formulate my next two picks.

Marketing has been excellent thus far. And having Arrow as Casey Jones could be a plus.

It's a Harry Potter movie without Harry Potter. Such beloved franchises without their hero can be a crapshoot (remember The Bourne Legacy?).

It's still Rowling, right? I think it'll be one of the biggest movies of the year.

Star Wars Rogue One is a Star Wars movie without Skywalkers, Kenobis and Solos. It's still going to be the biggest movie of the year. Same thing applies. People are drawn to the world Rowling has created, not any specific character.

We were just being nice and leaving it for Jas as it's his first full year draft and all.

But seriously I'm still kicking myself and it disturbed my sleep last night. Somehow I had it crossed off my list as already picked.

Jas is obviously a skilled wizard who cast a spell on you all so that he could steal Fantastic Beasts with the 10th pick.

Gonna take a risk and go with

Sing

A real wild card but if Moana doesn't astound this could pick up the slack over Xmas and run well into Feb

Also gotta agree with Geez. Fantastic Beasts would have been my 5th pick, after Star Wars, Captain America 3, Dory, and Suicide Squad. Despite not having Harry P, it's a massive effects-driven film from that world. It'll do well, especially when later trailers demonstrate those effects.

I'd thought about Sing but the trailer was just awful. It could be Illumination's first underperformer.

By the way, did anyone get Shryke's next two picks?

Dang it. I was SO hoping Jason Bourne would fall to me!!

Okay, here we go. In the past, I've been okay at picking first round picks, but it's everything AFTER that that seems to turn to shit. So I'm gonna cross my fingers and pray that I don't end up with two picks that end up making $60M each.

I will take Ghostbusters and The BFG.

Dammit, I have a movie that Shryke has picked. There goes The BFG being my first bomb of my slate...

I get the feeling that The BFG (another film that was on my list) will be bigger in Europe than the US (much like Spielberg's The Adventures of Tintin was). In the US, it's sandwiched between Finding Dory and The Secret Life of Pets and outside of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Dahl's books have more of a cult following in the States. I get the feeling it could be another Tomorrowland for Disney domestically.

But anyway, at least Shryke's Round 3 pick will be better than mine last time (The Walk looked like a hit on paper).

Meanwhile, who's got Shaan's contact info?
