Gosh, the 4th pick puts me in a pretty tough decision, if the 1st 3 picks go as expected. May have to trade down to the 5th pick so Brockster can make it for me...

I don't know whether I should make time for research or just pull a slate out of my ass when the time comes. My research last year didn't help much, so I'm leaning towards the latter in either case.
I've already done more research this year than I did all last year given that I'm a Daddy's Home break-out away from being relegated. There were a few picks that I absolutely whiffed on that I would've hit had I researched and thought about more so I'm hoping to avoid that. The only thing that makes me feel better about blowing it this year is that there's no way I could've known that a Pixar original would get only $120M. I was doomed from the start. :x

Right now I'm just curious whether I get 2nd or 3rd (depending on if The Jungle Book explodes or not). I guess either way the Top 3 is pretty clear cut for me so it won't be a hard choice if I slip a spot.

I don't want to tip my hand, but I wonder if we all agree on the top 3 for next year. I feel like we do, but even within that, I'm not convinced as to what order they "should" go in. I know what I'd pick first - but am curious if that's how it will play out. Again, looks like I'm picking 6th which I'm very curious about. What will fall there. Hopefully another Pixar movie that will make less Daddy's Home. Seriously, what are the odds.

I haven't started investigating for the next draft yet. And I'm pretty sure what I consider the 3 or 4 best options to start the draft won't be available once it's my turn to pick anyway. But that's fine by me. It makes the draft even more challenging.

With The Jungle Book numbers, Spectre is soon gonna leave the relegation zone. He's good to stay in A.

I anticipated as much. Who gets relegated between JohnErle and Tranny will depend entirely now on the OW of Keanu and Mother's Day. Who'da thunk it

By my calculations, JohnErle will have a lead on Tranny of about $3 to $4 million when we go into the season's final weekend, so Keanu will need to outgross Mother's Day by that amount in order for Tranny to stay in Division A. Boxoffice.com predicts Keanu's OW will be $20M and Mother's Day will be $13M. I think it'll be even closer than that. Exciting!

Looks like Spectre will probably catch and pass me by then. Which means that I guess I should start planning for the 2nd pick in the draft.

Fortunately I should still be picking in the Top 3 which is all I really care about. I can make an argument for 3 different movies to go #1 so it'll really depend on personal preference. I'll be happy to take whichever is left.

Yeah, I started an initial plan a couple of nights ago. Have about 30 movies with potential for blockbuster status, that's before some unscheduled movies are announced too. Think the top 3 are set, with a couple of movies after that looking pretty secure too. Beyond that, its literally anyone's guess what will be more successful than another.

My spreadsheet is pretty ridiculous this year but I figured that I'm going to look into things at some point or another over the course of the year so may as well do my research up front. I really just don't want to say I blew a pick because I didn't look into it enough like I have in the past.

Sounds like division A is gonna be as competitive as ever this year. Especially since theres no Star Wars Episode 7 type movie that will pretty much outgross the entire slate of other people.

I think this year will be a LOT more fun.

A normal draft winner like Jurassic World had a $280M deficit to make up on Star Wars and even what would be a great, normal Round 1 pick like Inside Out had around a $600M gap to close. You pretty much needed to draft perfectly to beat it.

This year should be much more balanced (hopefully) and wide open. I only wish I had pulled the trigger on the trade I had discussed with empire and gave up my first 5 picks for Star Wars. Shame I projected it to "only" $500M-$600M. :P
