Aquamann has Child 44, he drafted it.

My bad. I thought he dropped it. And, I didn't see it when I looked at the release date on his roster. I failed to look at the TBD section at the end of his list.
Guess I was flustered at losing two picks on the same day.

A Little Chaos gets a distributor and a release date, added to the wire.
And added Still Alice, which got a date a couple of days ago.

Not seeing any buzz for The Homesman so will drop it for the TBA title The Rewrite. Been getting a few spots prior to release over here and if released could do ok.

Yeah, I've got the Homesman and I'm debating how much a Best Actress nod will get it. Not sure if it will be enough.

Did The Rewrite ever get a distributor? It seems like a title a company like Clarius would take (seeing how they released Rob Reiner's latest and picked up Peter Bogdanovich's comeback movie).

Maps is fine, but Merry Friggin' Christmas is a no go since it opens within the 4 week limit. Sorry, I've been slacking on heaping this updated lately.empire13 wrote:I'll pick up A Map to the Stars and A Merry Friggin' Christmas and drop Amityville and Demonic.

I think we should amend that rule. I understand not wanting to allow someone to drop a film that is going to tank right before its release, but I'm not sure I understand the need to prevent someone from picking a film up that is available to everyone equally. Doesn't make sense to me.
So, since The Homesman opens exactly 31 days from now, I'll take it instead.

Because just as you would drop a film that is getting bad buzz, should you be allowed to pick up a film that is getting good buzz or advanced tracking?empire13 wrote:I think we should amend that rule. Re: 2014-15 Division A Waiver Wire
Anything left on the wire a month away that's "getting good buzz" is probably increasing its revenue from $5 M to $10 M. I'm fairly certain after drafting 160 films and even more free agents/waivers, the only way you're getting a decent pick from the wire is if it's something added multiple months in the future and is swept up quickly by a high priority.
Tenet: Criterion Edition. Now with more Backwards Man.

Re: 2014-15 Division A Waiver Wire
We already had this debate on the other thread. In the first two-division year, Six and I ran separate wires and I (typically running Division A) did not observe such a rule (I also never observed it in my two single-division years of heading the wire) while Six did. Now that Six and I are in the same division, he chose to run the wire and I knew nothing about the rule since I chose to stay out of Division B affairs in the past.
After I said something to Shryke, we came up with an idea to having some sort of "winter meeting" thing about discussing an all-encompassing rule over it (Shryke didn't like the 28-day rule for drops either).
In short, when I handled wires, it was "28 days for a entry and 12:01 am the day of release for a drop" on my side while Six does "28 days for an entry and 28 days for a drop" on his side.

Re: 2014-15 Division A Waiver Wire
At this point, I don't think ANYONE likes the 28 day/4 week rule for adds or drops.
I'm sure we'll all vote to drop it for next year.
