You mean the 1 month rule?

It's not supposed to be liked, but it's there to prevent people from availing of tracking to drop one of their projects in the hope of picking up something better.

I thought about considering Midnight Special for my list but decided that Warner Bros. would probably save it for Summer 2015 (seeing how their 2014 Oscar season is looking full with The Good Lie, The Judge, Inherent Vice, the undated Lost River aka How to Catch a Monster and possibly American Sniper).

Considering Midnight Special has a sci-fi slant I don't know if it will ever be considered for the major awards.

It is from Jeff Nichols though and he is a critically-adored director. Also, the Academy kind of owes him some sort of nomination after Mud was completely snubbed.

Yes, that's true, but if a critically acclaimed director decides to make, say, a YA adaptation, does that automatically make it a contender for the Oscars?

Maybe. There were those talks to nominate the last Harry Potter for Best Picture a few years back (it didn't happen but still).

Thanks. I was debating last round between it and Left behind. I was specifically worried about you snapping it up chien.

I'll take Vince Vaughn's other movie Term Life even though it's essentially a remake of Three Days To Kill.

I wish six would stop picking my movies in Division B just moments before I make my own pick in Division A - I keep having a panic attack that someone else will take notice and swoop in with it. I take Hazanavicus' The Search and hope it can make decent numbers with a good chance at Oscar interest.
