i'm feeling very confidant with my slate, gonna need some picks to break out to be a #1 slate, but i think it's very strong.

I think overall it's pretty well balanced and it should make a great competition.
I think my favourite slate (besides my own of course) is Geezer's.

Geezer has too many question marks that could go either way (Elysium, Ender's Game, The Fifth Estate, RoboCop).

As for the best, I believe it's too close to call. We all have hits but we all have question marks as well (such as W picking two films that will definitely be released for the summer and a film that could go straight-to-DVD while Monkey picked a film that was greenlighted just last week).

At this point of course everyone has tons of question marks. But the question marks with the most potential, I was saying, was in my opinion Geezer's. And mine, of course ;)
But really, I think this is a very competitive year, and this should be a tight and exciting race.

Concerning my slate, I think I have too many 2014 films (or potential 2014 films) on it. I would have prefered to have a few more films with a 2013 release date. The further films are, the biggest chance there is they will get pushed back later.

In your opinion, what do you think are the biggest question marks?

My opinion:
empire: The Zero Theorem (Gilliam's films usually take awhile to reach the US)
Geezer: The Fifth Estate (the film could fail to gross $10 million with the esoteric premise and heavy competition)
W: Vacation (I can't see rewrites, shooting and post-production getting finished in 11 months)
myself: A Most Wanted Man (the film could have trouble finding a distributor and the parallels to the Boston Marathon bombing could hurt it)
Shryke: Prince Avalanche (Magnolia's films never go wide)
Leestu: The Last Witch Hunter (filming hasn't started yet)
Monkey: Inherent Vice (the film was only just greenlighted and is still in the casting process)
Banks: Ain't Them Bodies Saints (small distributor + awful title = trouble)
Chien: Draft Day (I can't see Lionsgate throwing this one in the Spring, due to the hot script, strong cast and name director)
Tranny: Only God Forgives (VOD to theatrical titles are rarely box office hits)

If my biggest question is the third to last pick in the entire draft, I'm ok with it.

I'd actually say anything from Round 2 for you is very risky, W. Not to suggest that's a bad thing, I think you usually perform very well by taking such risks, but many of those movies could very well flop hard. I think World War Z was taken very early for a round 2 pick, can't see it making much more than $100m, The Lone Ranger, other than it's release slot, looks like a struggle for $100m, Planes looks just like a cash in on Cars, a series itself that suffered a major decline. 300 could do ok, but won't come within a whisker of the first movie, while The Muppets will struggle to get past $50m. The Mortal Instruments and 47 Ronin look dead in the water at the moment too.

So many of your movies could bomb, though I wouldn't be surprised given your history to see them go either way. Should be exciting for both leagues.

He'll, I'd say Man of Dteel is risky off this point in the draft.

The Muppets had great WOM and I'm sure some people discovered it on home video and it made $75M, if I remember correctly.

Should do AT LEAST that again, but more likely it'll be closer to $90-$100M.

And W, if you don't think so, I'd happy to work out a trade with you :D

Concerning Draft Day, Boosch, I think 42 has just proved that a well reviewed sports-related film with a "used to be in the A list" actor can do great during the spring, and I'm sure Lionsgate noticed that too ;)

Except 42 didn't have a script that every studio wanted. Since Lionsgate knows what they got here, they'll slot it at a prime date instead of the dregs of April.

We'll see, but I'm still pretty confident. And I think I picked it late enough to not be too much disappointed if the release date is later than april 2014.
