RULES
Waivers is a 48 hour period for drops, date changes, and additions to the waiver wire. Waivers start when a film is posted here, the Division A of full year draft league, or The Latest Date Changes thread and also when a film is dropped by another player.

During this period you can stake your claim for a film on the list, but it is NOT first come, first serve. The highest person on the waiver wire (1 being the highest) that stakes a claim during the 48 hour window gets the film. This in turn, moves them to the back of the line. The first waiver wire is in the reverse order of the first round of the draft.

Anything that passes the 48 hour waiver period is free to be chosen without losing your waiver position

You cannot add or drop any film with a release date within 4 weeks (28 days) of the current date.

So how exactly does this work? We put in a claim and drop a movie, or put in a claim, and only then drop a movie? Sorry if it was explained elsewhere, but I don't seem to be able to find that.

Yeah, let's get the rules posted at the top of this thread. I asked for this repeatedly last year and I don't think it was ever done, but for the sake of the newbies let's get the rules clearly laid out. I was a newbie last year and I know how confusing it can be. Posting the rules would also help the old-timers who never seem to remember how the waiver wire works. Mostly Chien. ;-)

Yeah, I'm still unclear exactly on the rules, so waiting for Shryke or W to post them before repeating them here!

Very quickly, as I remember them: if a film is lying around undrafted and unwanted, let's call this the garbage heap, anyone can pick them up any time by making a claim. Just say "I'm dumping Crapfest A for Crapfest B".

If a film that wasn't on the garbage heap suddenly gets a release date, it goes on the waiver wire for 48 hours and people can make their claims according to the waiver wire order, which is the opposite of the first round draft order. If you got stuck with the last pick in round one you get first crack at any good new releases on the waiver wire.

And if you make a successful waiver wire claim you then move down to the bottom of the list. And you don't have to announce what film you're going to drop until your waiver wire claim is successful.

One thing I've already forgotten is what happens if a TBA film from the garbage heap suddenly gets a good release date. I think they should go on the waiver wire for 48 hours but I can't remember if that's what happened last year.

Can't remember either, but I agree in that it SHOULD go on the waiver wire for 48 hours. It just makes sense.

I also think once the garbage pile list is finalised (at the moment it's a draft with suggestions for everyone welcome) then all of them go on the waiver wire for 48 hours. After that we're free to pick up without losing out waiver wire position.

I have to get my kid ready for school now, so I'll let you guys ask anything and I'll have a refined version of the above later tonight if needed.

I forgot about the drops. That's important for the first-timers to know.

And Chien, you're the one who got lucky last year, which is why we're not in the same division. ;-)

So is everything on the list a free agent now or in a waiver period? Also I'd like to request "you are here " be added to the list. Thanks

I added You Were Here to the list.

My suggestion is that we wait until the list is completed/agreed on and then apply the 48 hours waiver wire period. It just makes things more official and less underhanded for the newbies.

If it makes you feel better to think I'm just in Division A out of luck, it's fine with me. I'll prove you this year that this was no luck at all ;)
