Re: 2012-13 Full Year Slates
I've got to ask, but is there any conceivable way we can wait to start the draft until we have a better idea of how Pain and Gain will perform. Just with The Croods excellent hold again and Jurassic Park still going, I could possibly be only $45m behind empire with a week of those movies and then the weekend trio of The Croods, Jurassic Park and Pain & Gain, I think that margin is reachable. I wouldn't mind but this is the difference between a and b division, and first pick in the draft.

Starting after Pain & Gain's OW always made more sense to me. Iron Man 3 will go in the top 3 picks and the limited release films that weekend are basically worthless. That gives us 10 days to finish before Gatsby and Peeples open.

Starting after next weekend is fine by me too.

Well, if that's what the majority decides, that's what we'll do.
Question... what about the quarterly Draft League which will be ending next week as well?

Please, let's not. If we start the draft on the 29th, then things won't finish until May 10th (at the earliest) and the last thing that we need to have the draft still going during the early part of the Summer movie season. This shit always happens and I would like for once to avoid that pitfall.

Re: 2012-13 Full Year Slates
I was on the side of those who thought it would be a good thing to start after this very weekend, but if the score is too thin to determine in advance between the two who could either go in division A and B, I would find it normal that we wait. It's not as if it's between who drafts 5th and who drafts 6th, it determines which division those two will spend the entire year in. If the doubt's too strong, of course we should wait.

So you think it will be over a week before Gatsby and Tyler Perry are off the board? I think it will run a lot faster with the leagues being split. It will be ok. Calm down.

Re: 2012-13 Full Year Slates
First, just let me say that I completely understand Surfer's reasoning. There is a huge difference between drafting 1st in division A and drafting 5th in division B. That having been said, it took 11 players 13 days to do a 14 round draft in 2011-2012. There are going to be 10 and 9 players in divisions A and B this year with a 20 round draft. I think that's going to take well more than 14ish days from April 27th (assuming everything is clear after Friday's numbers) to May 10th. I know this post sounds a bit self-serving (and it is), and I'm not suggesting we start on Monday (but I kind of am), but does everyone really think we'll be done by May 10th if we wait until the final weekend of April? Again, I understand Surfer's point. It's a big difference. I'm willing to go with whatever is decided upon. I'm just asking the question without trying to sound like a complete dick.

Well, if will help move things along, I need a personal pledge from everyone that they will either make it a point to check in several times a day or, if they fear that their turn may come up and they're not there to see it, send me a PM with several movies that they want.

Re: 2012-13 Full Year Slates
I fail to see what the pitfalls are of starting next week instead of this week. It certainly didn't have any impact last year.
Re: 2012-13 Full Year Slates
No, it's probably not that important. The important thing is to get the draft order right. I was just hoping to enjoy the draft more. From May 3rd to May 23rd I'm going to be working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. The trade off is that I have from today until May 3rd off. So, I was looking forward to being able to follow the draft and draft for myself, instead of having to give Shryke a list of picks. That was my thinking.

Re: 2012-13 Full Year Slates
It's not even a matter of being done by then, just a matter of whether Gatsby and Tyler Perry's We the Peeples are off the board, the only relevant films to our game. Gatsby should go in the first 4-5 rounds, Tyler Perry should go off the board no later than the 8th or 9th (obviously just projecting here). If we can even get through a round a day, we should have zero issues.

I think it's more important we get accurate results (if we're just guessing the last week, it makes the whole league moot) than fret over whether anyone will be able to pick up Peeples before it opens.
