I had been considering Rush since Round 7, but ultimately I was too wary of it. I'm not sure if it will be ready by Winter 2012 and I imagine Howard would either want to wait untli Fall 2013 or try and make money with the release during Summer 2013. So I passed on it.

I was seriously considering Cosmopolis, but then I checked out David Cronenberg's box office history and it was way lower than I expected. The violent, straight-forward Viggo Mortensen thrillers did okay, but Cosmopolis looks like a return to the trippy Croneneberg of Videodrome, Naked Lunch, and Existenz, and the audience for those films is smaller than I thought. I assumed he had a Wes Anderson-type following, but apparently not.

Six, Lionsgate paid $5 million for You're Next (the big bidding war at last year's Toronto Film Festival was for this film, as every studio wanted it). I'd be amazed if they dumped it.

I don't see Rush as an awards contender, nor as a sumer movie. I think it would better fit the first quarter of 2013. BUt if Howard sees it as an awards film, I'm sure it could be ready for this end of the year. He's worked fast in the past, this isn't as heavy as his past studio films, and given the huge success of The Avengers, he could try to benefit from Chris Hemsworth's presence in one of the leads.

Speaking about comic books, Olivia Wilde should have been Catwoman.

Ron Howard sees all his films as award films. He's the perfect example of an Oscar whore.

Boosch good point about it getting a release. I vaguely remember reading about this. Alas, there's far more horrors that bomb than surprise.

Except the dilemma, exactly. Now, if Rush could get released in the same period as The Dilemma, and get as much money, I'd be happy for a last round pick ;)
