Re: The Official 2011-12 Full Year Draft Thread
Okay, final pick....
I almost wish we could go a couple or three more rounds! And since there is nothing left on the definite schedule with any potential, I'll go back to the "unknowns" for my last pick. There's like 30 titles I have my eye on, but for now, I'll pick William Friedkin's Killer Joe, starring Matthew McConaughey. I'm hoping the combination of those two names means it will go wide at some point.

Well, McConaughey is making a comeback and it was written by Pulitzer Prize winner Tracy Letts so you might be right.

This might not get a release date this year, but I have read that it is in post production and that it might get a winter release, So here's hoping. I pick The 13 Women of Nanjing, Yimou has had success in america before, add Christian Bale and that part of it is in english, this could be successful here as well.

Good pick, Monkey. Yimou's films go wide sometimes (Hero grossed $54 million back in 2004).

"Then telephone for an axe"
Re: The Official 2011-12 Full Year Draft Thread
My last pick, huh? Well, I think I'll close with Violet and Daisy. Superbad meets Thelma and Louise sounds like it could make some cash.
There was a realy arthouse movie I was going to pick as my last but Violet and Daisy has more commercial appeal

Re: The Official 2011-12 Full Year Draft Thread
Whaaaat ? Where does this film come from ? I've never heard of it, Six. Mmmmm...
My turn to pick my last film. I had more than half a dozen left that I was eyeing for my last pick, some arthouse with strong potential, some more commercial but with many interogations surrounding...
And at the last minute I found a film with an interesting potential, one that is still on the market. So here it is : The Lucky One.
An adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks novel, with Zac Efron, directed by Scott Hicks, with Warner Bros distributing. The film was shot last fall, so it should be released in the coming 12 months easily. SParks adaptations are usually strong at the box-office, strong enough to be an appealing last pick for this draft.

Re: The Official 2011-12 Full Year Draft Thread
Hadn't heard of Violet and Daisy, but it could be just as successful as Hanna. The Lucky One is a great last round pick, if it gets released in time, it says to have a 2012 release, so you have a chance of 4 in 12 for it to be released in time.
Re: The Official 2011-12 Full Year Draft Thread
The Lucky One is indeed a great pick. I could see it getting a Feb release next year
