Good point. But since Chien denied my request, let's end the season after this weekend.

Standings (up until 5/20)

At the end of the season, will we remember that Six was the first of us to hit $100M ? Well, he is the first of us, while UDM enters the standings with an OK number from IF and a bad one from Back to Black. And Walleye can be satisfied with how The Strangers Chapter 1 launched.
Next week, UDM will probably climb to 2nd thanks to IF and Garfield, while Ron will hope that Furiosa will get furiously good numbers.

1. Six - $100,689,790 (1 film - Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes)
2. Tranny - $62,887,485 (1 film - The Fall Guy)
3. UDM - $36,551,521 (2 films - IF, Back to Black)
4. Walleye - $27,276,140 (2 film - The Strangers Chapter 1, Tarot)
Ron (first film opening 5/24)
Chien (first film opening 6/7)
Spectre (first film opening (6/7)
Banks (first film opening 7/5)
Screen (first film opening 7/12)

5/24
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (Ron, 2nd round)
The Garfield Movie (UDM, 1st round)

5/31
Summer Camp (UDM, 5th round)
Young Woman and the Sea (Ron, 11th round)

6/7
Bad Boys Ride or Die (Chien, 3rd round)
The Watchers (Spectre, 6th round)

6/14
Inside Out 2 (Walleye, 1st round)

Standings (up until 5/27)

UDM climbs to second and becomes the second $100M hitter. But just barely, with his #1 and #2 films already out. Six, with only one film out, his 3rd round pick, still holds the top spot. Ron enters the game, with disappointing numbers from Furiosa, which clearly isn’t turning the BO into fury. Next weekend will be slow at the BO with only two small films getting released. Summer 2024 clearly won’t break records…
(I used the 4-day numbers.)

1. Six - $127,068,273 (1 film - Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes)
2. UDM - $101,470,092 (3 films - Garfield, IF, Back to Black)
3. Tranny - $74,191,850 (1 film - The Fall Guy)
4. Walleye - $39,970,481 (2 films - The Strangers Chapter 1, Tarot)
5. Ron - $32,343,145 (1 film - Furiosa)
Chien (first film opening 6/7)
Spectre (first film opening 6/7)
Banks (first film opening 7/5)
Screen (first film opening 7/12)

5/31
Summer Camp (UDM, 5th round)
Young Woman and the Sea (Ron, 11th round)

6/7
Bad Boys Ride or Die (Chien, 3rd round)
The Watchers (Spectre, 6th round)

6/14
Inside Out 2 (Walleye, 1st round)

6/21
The Bikeriders (Spectre, 8th round)

It's all fun and games until MaXXXine opens to $100M, and ends up winning Best Picture somehow

(Wasn't there an idea once to have Oscar/award season bonuses for the FY game? Like Best Picture winners gets an extra $25M or something similar)

That would require everyone who saw Pearl to see it 11 times in the first three days.

Standings (up until 6/2)

And Six is still first ! His 3rd round pick, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, holds off UDM and his 1st, 2nd, 5th and 7th round picks. Monkey should take the crown next week though, but for how long ?
Ron, Disney did not report official numbers for Young Woman and the Sea (and you can thank them for that), so feel free to replace it.
Next week, Spectre and myself enter the game with The Watchers and the new Bad Boys movie.

1. Six - $140,164,725 (1 film - Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes)
2. UDM - $138,815,943 (4 films - Summer Camp, Garfield, IF, Back to Black)
3. Tranny - $80,281,525 (1 film - The Fall Guy)
4. Walleye - $46,359,671 (2 films - The Strangers Chapter 1, Tarot)
5. Ron - $49,700,225 (1 film - Furiosa)
Chien (first film opening 6/7)
Spectre (first film opening 6/7)
Banks (first film opening 7/5)
Screen (first film opening 7/12)

6/7
Bad Boys Ride or Die (Chien, 3rd round)
The Watchers (Spectre, 6th round)

6/14
Inside Out 2 (Walleye, 1st round)

6/21
The Bikeriders (Spectre, 8th round)

6/28
A Quiet Place: Day One (Tranny, 2nd round)
Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1 (Spectre, 3rd round)

Yep. Comedies for old people don't make what they used to anymore in May.

Well, that, there was no advertising, and word-of-mouth was pretty bad. I was correct in my assessment that it was more The Miracle Club (final gross: $2.4 million, though it did really well in my area) and less Book Club.

I remember talking about this. I think it would be an interesting wrinkle to the game. And it would allow us to pick some streamers and make those later rounds a little more interesting rather than just picking some random horror trilogy :)

Agreed, it makes it much more interesting now the streamers are gunning for Oscars.

Roma and All Quiet on the Western Front would have killed without ever reporting box office.

Standings (up until 6/9)

UDM finally takes the lead ! IF is the major piece of his slate for now, about to reach $100M, but for a 2nd round pick, that’s the least you can ask for. With no film to get released before Alien Romulus in mid-August though, UDM won’t keep the crown for long.
Elsewhere, despite Furiosa’s disappointment, Ron climbs one spot to 4th, and Walleye slips two places to 6th, as the Bad Boys help make a solid entry in the game. But Walleye will very, very soon climb (way) back up thanks to Pixar. Spectre enters the game with The Watchers.

1. UDM - $170,202,988 (3 films - Summer Camp, Garfield, IF)
2. Six - $149,791,656 (1 film - Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes)
3. Tranny - $85,014,265 (1 film - The Fall Guy)
4. Ron - $58,670,014 (1 film - Furiosa)
5. Chien - $56,527,324 (1 film - Bad Boys Ride or Die)
6. Walleye - $50,493,321 (2 films - The Strangers Chapter 1, Tarot)
7. Spectre - $7,003,537 (1 film - The Watchers)
Banks (first film opening 7/5)
Screen (first film opening 7/12)

The following film appear to be done:
Back to Black (UDM, 7th round) = $6,157,705

6/14
Inside Out 2 (Walleye, 1st round)

6/21
The Bikeriders (Spectre, 8th round)

6/28
A Quiet Place: Day One (Tranny, 2nd round)
Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1 (Spectre, 3rd round)

7/3
Despicable Me 4 (Chien, 1st round)
MaXXXine (Banks, 9th round)

I think I'll be circling the toilet bowl this year between the lousy reviews for Horizon and bombs like The Watchers. Oh well, there's always next year!
