Thanks Shryke. Looks like I might have I Can Only Imagine for saving me from a demotion this year. Not convinced I'm in the clear yet, but that helped. Also, I have Unsane coming out next week. I think it'll bomb but I need every penny I can get.

Now that it looks like I'm destined for Division B, it's time to announce my retirement from this game.

I almost passed on playing last year, but I felt obligated to continue as long as I was in Division A, but as my performance this year clearly shows, I don't have the time I used to to research an entire year's worth of upcoming releases.

I wanted to say something as early as possible so Shryke can figure out what to do with an odd number of players or try to recruit someone new.

Have fun without me!

Thanks for the warning, John. I may already have another player lined up (and it will be a surprise to all!).

This was actually the last box office game I was still playing, so I guess that is what it means. I'll still be around for the Fantaverse Awards, list-making, and various culture-related discussions, but I'm just not feeling the games any more.

it's the year that the superheroes screwed me, i honestly thought we would be getting to overdose load by now.

i didn't pick a single one in summer or winter and i thought New Mutants would be different and cool ala Deadpool and Logan, it get's booted to next year, and to top it fuckin off the avengers decide to crash the party

next year i'm only picking superhero movies...

Well, the bad news is you'll drop to Division B. The good news is, with JohnErle dropping out, you'll more than likely pick #1. You can grab Avengers (from Week 2 on)...

and yet there's no guarantee Infinity War will hold well. Age of Ultron made over half it's total in it's first week, which is terrible.

Marvel also had originally planned this as a two parter with next year's film, and the first half of films have tended to have terrible holds. They have seemed to shy away from that in the marketing, but how much you want to bet that Infinity War ends with a cliffhanger.

None of the new Star Wars films have made less than $500M, but Solo just does not seem to have the buzz that the others have had. Plus it's only been 5 months since the last film. Does anyone care?

Can Deadpool strike twice and make $300M again.... or Jurassic World with $600M, for that matter...

maybe in a month from now, things will be more clear, who knows
