Obviously the negative of the IMDB rating made it a more difficult pick to make in our group, can't really understand the early pick of Butter though, unless I missed something re. its potential.
I would have preferred to have a sure-fire hit on my slate instead of many question marks, but I'm glad there's still some potential in my slate. Yours is good UDM, yes.
By the way, I think the only surefire hit of the season is The Hunger Games. The dramatic drop of box office in animations made me question my pick, while Titans may suffer from a backlash from the previous movie. And John Carter's trailer reactions were hardly positive. Taking Titanic was a smart move, it could be huge.

I find it very interesting to see the differences of choices between the two divisions. I think there are oddities in both groups. We mentioned Butter, but in the same round, Leestu choosing Arrietty is just as audacious.
The Hunger is the biggest film of the season on the paper, no doubt about it Surfer. But I still consider The Lorax, John Carter and Titans above the other films in terms of obvious potential. I hope Titanic will prove big. Beauty and the Beast's disappointment made me question picking the two 3D re-editions.

The trailer reaction for John Carter hasn't been the best but the test screenings have gone extremely well.

And if you remember, the first trailer for Avatar was not a well-received trailer.
Everything on this post is strictly the opinion and only the opinion of Buscemi.

The reason I think Beauty and The Beast underperformed compared to The Lion King was because it was a much more female skewed movie and definitely for younger viewers, whereas The Lion King appeals to both sexes. Titanic was a huge movie, for both sexes and all ages, and I think there is enough fondness towards the movie for it still to be a big success, especially with all the effort Cameron has gone into converting it to 3D (and Avatar proved he is still the best in the business for 3D). I know when I mentioned its re-release to Helena recently she was all for seeing it again, and so do I. I think it's been long enough between it's original release and a whole new breed of fans are probably wanting to see an epic title like that.

And you may be right about John Carter, Boussh, but a few test screenings aren't enough (yet) to convert me. I'll wait to hear a few reviews, as for the moment it looks like a bad cross between (Chien)fantome Menace and Clash of The Titans.

Dammit, that was going to be my last pick. Nevermind, I'll take The Five Year Engagment, I guess.

Also The Cabin In The Woods has not been removed from the available movie list, just in case you were considering it, Ozzy.
