February - April Official Drafting Thread (Division B)

Post by Shrykespeare »

Here is the official drafting order for this league:

1. Ozzy, 8 picks, $80 spent
2. Surfer, 8 picks, $90 spent
3. Leestu, 8 picks, $87 spent
4. UDM, 8 picks, $86 spent
5. Chien, 8 picks, $93 spent

Since there are only five players and a huge number of movies to choose from, a full rack of eight films apiece will be chosen.

From this post, Ozzy has 12 hours to make his first selection. All selections after that must be made 12 hours or less after the previous one. Failure to pick in that time will result in your pick being skipped until such time as your pick is recorded.

If you can't log in and place it, you may e-mail or PM me a choice and I will place it for you. Failing that, you may send me a "draft order" and I will simply pick for you the highest-ranked film on your list that has not been chosen.

2. Surfer - The Lorax ($25)

Sigh, I guess I'll take wrath of the titans too, though there's a part of me that's screaming 'that's a mistake'. I can't think of a more unnecessary sequel

OKay, so, gotta try something with what's left for the first round... Play it safe or gamble a bit ? Well, given the situation, I prefer to take some risks... so my first two picks will be the 3D re-releases of the season, hoping they will be more Lion King than Beauty & the Beast...
So I'll go with Titanic 3D and Star Wars Episode I 3D
I will probably regret it once I push the "submit" button, but...

NEWS: PLEASE READ

These have just been made official by Box Office Mojo:

House at the End of the Street has been bumped to September. I have removed it from the list.

Seeking a Friend For the End of the World has been bumped to Juen. I have removed it from the list.

The Raven has been bumped from 3/9 to 4/27. Because it only has one weekend to get stats in this league, I have changed it's price tag to $7 (Ult) and $6 (BO).

Undefeated has been pushed from 2/10 to 2/17.

Also, I have added prices for all films, and will keep a running total for all players so that nobody goes over budget.

What do you mean so that nobody goes over budget ? We have to respect a budget ?

Well, Jeez, Chien, you are choosing a slate on the game website. You have $100 to spend, and it won't give you more than that.

Not that I expect this will be an issue. Not every film over $10 is desirable because they won't get any Top 5 points, and I'm sure most contestants will at least pick a few PTA picks. That, plus most of the films are relatively cheap once you get past the first round.

Well I hadn't thought of that to be honest Shryke, that's all ;)
But I probably won't take that into account at all ;)

I don't foresee anyone ever going over budget in the draft leagues, but it's possible.
Tenet: Criterion Edition. Now with more Backwards Man.

To be fair, as this was my first draft league in this format I didn't know there was a budget. I thought it just played like the full year draft. Obviously now it makes sense, and like W, I don't forsee any problems with sticking to one. We will likely only have 2, maybe 3 movies over $10, with plenty of lower priced picks.
