November-January Draft League Standings

Post by BanksIsDaFuture »

I've checked everyone's slates and everything looks good (we're still waiting to see if Shame is added, so UDM can select it).
I'll update you guys on who's in the lead and whatnot every weekend.

Standings through the 11/18 weekend (UDM and Ozzy still have no movies released):

Box Office:

1) Tranny - $166,457,541
2) Chien - $115,028,113
3) W. - $53,108,759
4) Banks - $20,237,068
5) Buscemi - $1,290,096
6) Shryke - $709,212

Top 5:

1) Chien - 13 T5 points
2) Tranny - 8
2) W. - 8
4) Banks - 4
5) Buscemi - 0
5) Shryke - 0

PTA:

1) Chien - 11 PTA points
2) Tranny - 8
2) W. - 8
2) Shryke - 8
5) Buscemi - 5
6) Banks - 2

IMDb:

1) Chien - 16.8
2) W. - 12.95
3) Tranny - 11.9
4) Buscemi - 7.55
5) Shryke - 7.5
6) Banks - 6.1

Total Standings

1) Chien - 31 points
2) Tranny - 26.5
3) W. - 25.5
4) Banks - 16
5) Buscemi - 15.5
5) Shryke - 15.5

Thanks to his early November trifecta of Tower Heist, Jack & Jill, and J. Edgar, Chien is unsuprisingly in the lead. Any other time, he'd be even more out in first place, but I guess Adam Sandler fans didn't go for his Mrs. Doubtfire schtick. And nobody really went for cross-dressing Leonardo DiCaprio.

Tranny used his sparkly vampire friends to put him in 2nd, although W.'s PTA-friendly The Son of No One and surprise hit Immortals has him right on the heels of jumping into 2nd.

I hold the narrowest of leads over Buscemi & Shryke, who's limited releases (The Descendants and Melancholia, respectively) opened with pretty identical results. The bombing of Happy Feet Two does not leave my slate in a happy position, as now all my hopes are riding on Alvin & The Chipmunks 3. Gah.

I am pleased to announce that Shame was just added to the list.

UDM, you may now add it to your slate.

Interesting thought, If you had to watch all 6 films on a slate, which slate(s) would be the easiest to get through? (note: not which slate has a particular movie that you really want to see)

I would say W's slate for me. Mine probably second. Actually, I really want to see all of the films on Chien's slate, except for Jack and Jill which totally kills it.

Yours first, Monkey. Everyone else has at least one bad looking movie (Alvin, Young Adult, One For The Money, The Devil Inside, Jack and Jill, The Sitter, New Year's Eve, Breaking Dawn, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo).

I liked the others so I'll see this one.

Also on Monkey's: the trailer for War Horse is probably the closest I've ever come to crying during a trailer. That means a major must-see for me.

interesting, I actually haven't seen the trailer. Spielberg is always a must see with me anyway, so i stay away from the trailers to not get spoiled.

and isn't it Underworld 4? I've only seen the first one, so not sure

It's the fourth. Rise of the Lycans (the third one) was a prequel.

On the other end of the spectrum, I think the slate that all of us would stay away from would probably be mine, thanks to the trifecta of Alvin & The Chipmunks 3, the latest Heigl disaster, and Happy Feet 2 - the sequel nobody was dying for.

I guess you could add Angelina Jolie's pretentious snoozer, at least that's what it looks like to me.

Actually, the first three look like surefire hits. Alvin is a moneymaking machine, One For The Money is based on a popular book series (those Stephanie Plum novels are big with women) and people like penguins (Mr. Popper's Penguins still managed to gross $60 million despite a weak opening).

In The Land of Blood and Honey will be a hard sell and as a result is probably the only flop in that lot.

You could pay me to watch Alvin 3... I might even stay awake for enough cash.
