I checked Sandler's films Imdb ratings before picking it, and most of them are in the 6's, so it ain't that bad after all. And while I would tend to think the same as you, that it doesn't look like it'll do well, I always think that of Sandler's big comedies, and they always flirt with $100M, and often, the more terrible they look, the better they do at the BO.

Hmm, I honestly thought The Descendants would be the first PTA pick of the draft, but I guess The Artist is picking up some buzz. It should kill in limited release, but who knows whether people will open up to a silent, black and white film...

As for Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close, I don't know whether it'll be in wide release long enough during our time period in this league to really make any money.

I know, I was very surprised by The Artist's early pick, especially with so many viable $40m picks available. I don't see The Artist doing better than $15m max really.

Yeah, but I think the Weinsteins will expand it slowly throughout December, so it should rack up the PTA points.

Actually, I think that's their plan with Marilyn, which will be a much more viable option. By the way, I didn't realise this was an ultimate league so I guess the pick makes a little more sense now.

My Week With Marilyn is planned for about 100 theatres on the 23rd with a Christmas Day wide expansion, according to HSX.

Yeah The Artist is a much more viable film than My Week with Marilyn, no doubt about it.

I can see The Artist pulling in at least 8 PTA. Its been generating a lot of buzz lately.

Next pick I'm going with The Sitter and hope it breaks out like Superbad/Bridesmaids/The Hangover.

Just an FYI:

I have asked Mario to add Shame to the list of movies coming out, for several reasons: it's getting Oscar buzz, it's got a terrific Rating, and could very easily rack up PTA points over several weekends. And besides that, at the moment, the only film we have debuting on 12/2 is the Japanese crime drama Outrage, and we need more than that.

I will let everyone know when Shame has been added. However, in the meantime, if someone wants to take a flyer and draft it, they may.
