On a fitting note, Shryke's list allowed Die Hard to leapfrog The Shining for the top spot. He also was responsible for getting The Abyss, The Princess Bride and Ghostbusters on to the list as well as getting Return of the Jedi into the top 10. Patrick's impact on this place remains unmatched.

Anyway, thanks Shryke for pushing Die Hard to the top. A film I could watch daily and enjoy just as much. It's the pizza of 80s movies. Pity so few action films understand why it works and thus come close to its brilliance.

That was a remarkably close finish for the #1 spot. I thought if anything was going to beat The Shining it would be Empire, but Die Hard made a strong push at the end. It's a ton of fun, just not something I'm emotionally attached to in any way.
