A New Kind of Movie Club

Seeing that NSpan's version of The Movie Club has been dormant for a while, I feel that it is time to relaunch the series. My idea is to pick certain titles that in a way are little-known but need attention. Also, I would like to continue the double feature option but pairing it with an appropriate movie.

Any thoughts?

I don't want to be the only person doing this so if we could get a team of four people to pick 13 titles a year (plus maybe a few super-sized editions for Holidays), that would be great.

I've wanted to keep this thing alive, but I just don't seem to find the time. If you want to take the reins, go for it. I'll remain involved as a participant.

Your proposal sounds basically like a more democratic and timely version of what I had going. If that's accurate, I think it's a good idea. You still won't be happy with every single movie pairing, though! ;)

I wouldn't mind joining but how long would we have to watch each film?? I don't subscribe to any VOD programs so it would take me longer to access them. Unless someone could suggest a good way of watching movies that is compatible in Australia??

There wouldn't be a limit on time. The idea would be to have each member pick one title a month. On Holidays, we would do super-sized editions where we pick one additional title.

The set-up:
-Each member picks a minimum of 12 titles a year (one a month).
-Special Holiday editions would allow for additional picks (I would love to pick holidays that are celebrated worldwide, to avoid creating a favoritism to American holidays).

I would love to get Six, Surfer, Chien and Shryke involved, so I will allow more than four (an idea would be to make new entries available twice a week).

Sure, I'll be involved. I doubt I'd have time to watch these films within a strict timeline, but if there's no time limit I'd be happy to make recommendations.

I'm up for this. I'm looking into getting Netflix set up when my internet is up and running (Netflix was in it's infancy in NZ so it had virtually no titles, so I'm looking forward to seeing what the UK edition has), so hopefully I'll be able to watch each movie when they are announced.

When we get to eight people, we can set up a launch date and a tentative schedule.

I can't guarantee I'll watch each and every film, but I will happily give this a try.

I have the UK/Irish Netflix. Unless you like It's Always Sunny in Phladelphia and Breaking Bad there's not much going on.

A movie per week? That's ambitious... even without "deadlines," I think a lot of titles will get passed over.

If there is no time limits then I will definitely be in, we should probably start up with less movies just to see how people can cope though.

How about a minimum of 9 picks each year?
