Having not seen many films from this decade, it looks like a good list.

I've never even heard of a bunch of them... what is High and Low? And Faces?

High and Low is a Kurosawa film (based on a story by Ed McBain). It was later remade as Ransom (and again as the awful King's Ransom).

Faces is a John Cassavetes film. It's in black and white and it's dialogue-driven but the acting is great (Cassavetes was one of the best directors with actors, see A Woman Under The Influence).

It was hard to place it that low but once again, there were better movies.

Good list though. Many great films. I'm not convinced by the order, but great films.

Indeed a good list, and I doubt I've seen much more than 100 films from the 60s so I can't compete.

Interesting that The Virgin Spring is your highest Bergman film of the 60s. It's one of my least favourite Bergman films, far too throwaway and simplistic in its intention.

The only other films there I don't particularly like is Vivre Sa Vie, a film that defines pretentious. Totally cerebral, and totally unenjoyable.

I've never even had the intention of watching it. I've got a big problem with Godard...

I guess I forgot that you preferred Juliet of the Spirits over 8 1/2.

Two notable exceptions off the top of my head: Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and Dr. Strangelove

Also: The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly at #1 but no A Fistful of Dollars? Too derivative?

Thanks for reminding me about Dr. Strangelove. I thought I had included it but didn't.

I feel like I want to kiss you right now (but will refrain).

On Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?: a good debut but Nichols has done better films. Also, 1966 had better films to offer.

I would heartily disagree about that one

I actually didn't notice you had Hour of the Wolf in there, Boosch. Good pick, it's definitely one of Bergman's more under-rated films.
