Just shows you how universal this film was, English comedies rarely get the credit it (sometimes) deserves and to see this in almost everybody's countdown is pleasing.

From the ridiculous The Matrix to the sublime (and ridiculous) Holy Grail. Didn't expect it to be this high, but loving that it is.

Pulp Fiction (1994) - Director: Quentin Tarantino; starring Bruce Willis, John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Roth, Amanda Plummer, Eric Stoltz, Ving Rhames, Uma Thurman, Rosanna Arquette, Harvey Keitel, Frank Whaley, Christopher Walken, Peter Greene, Quentin Tarantino, Maria de Medeiros and Steve Buscemi.

Buscemi's comment: Not surprisingly, this is still Tarantino's best film. The non-linear storytelling, the three stories, Tarantino's ability with dialogue and a fast pace and excellent acting make the film a worthwhile experience. John Travolta gives the performance of his career as Vincent Vega, whose return from the Netherlands sets up the adventures shown on screen. Samuel L. Jackson's star-making turn as his right-hand man Jules show proof on why he is considered such a bad motherfucker. And the rest of the cast also give excellent performances that contribute well to the action on-screen. Despite its long run time, the film moves very quickly (it seriously feels like 90 minutes rather than the 154 minutes listed on the box) and it is a great cinematic experience. It should have beaten Forrest Gump for Best Picture at the Oscars (and Travolta deserved to win Best Actor rather than Tom Hanks).

W's comment: What can I say about Pulp Fiction? It's got an excellent ensemble cast that goes on and on and characters that you (or at least I) haven't seen anywhere else. There's the style that cuts it into multiple stories that all interconnect somehow, but are all at the same time disconnected from a whole and not in chronological order. And there's some of the best lines ever.

NSpan's comment: "Game-changer" is a term that gets tossed around a lot nowadays. But NOBODY can dispute that the term applies here. I've read professional reviews that say, during the editing process, QT might as well have cut the film into pieces, thrown them in a random pile, and glued them back together at random. Well... I have a huge problem with that theory. The arrangement of scenes is exactly what makes this movie so special. The three (or four) stories it covers would all make intriguing short-films, but the intertwined placement of the segments works perfectly. Editing MAKES the movie here. Vincent Vega dying in the bathroom would've been a pretty underwhelming ending... but Vincent and Jules tucking their pistols into the elastic-bands of their tacky shorts as they strut out of the diner to the sounds of classic surf-rock is absolutely PERFECT. The only flaw in this film is QT casting himself... but, shit, I can overlook it.

And there you have it, guys. I will be e-mailing all of you at the end of the year or early 2012 to ask you to redo your lists, to include any new films from the past year (or an older film you waited too long to see), as well as any changes of opinion you may have in the next few months. When I have them all, I will retabulate the collective Top 100, and do the countdown again (though probably not with as much ceremony).

I hope that we can get a few other people to do lists as well, including Geezer's brother, if he can be bothered to.

Been a blast, guys.

Indeed, no surprise that it's our number 1, and by a long lead it seems. I'm happy about it, much happier than something like The Matrix or V For Vendetta (2 films I feared would be up high). I'm so happy that The Big Lebowski made the Top 10 (the only film make both my Top 10 and the Collective one), and 10 films in my Top 100 made the collective Top 20.

I forgot to review the Top 5
5. FIght Club 7/10
4. Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back 8/10
3. The Matrix 5/10
2. Monty Python and the Holy Grail 8/10
1. Pulp Fiction 10/10

Out of curiosity, what do you all think is the worst film in the Collective 100? For me it's between V, PoTC, and Snatch

For me, my least favorite films in the Top 100 that I've seen are Children of Men and Memento. Just didn't like them at all.

On another note, I just got Fight Club and Oldboy in the mail and will be watching them very shortly.
