Re: Fantaverse Top 100 Songs of All Time (THREAD #3): #80-#71

Nah, surfer, I haven't HATED everything you've "thrown at me". Truth is, I rate music like I rate movies... if it's just okay, I give it a 5. And I've given most of your picks a 5, 6 or 7. The only reason you are a little below the others is that you have only given me one song that I really, really...

Re: Fantaverse Top 100 Songs of All Time (THREAD #3): #80-#71

Shrykespeare -- Depeche Mode, “Freelove” (2001) I've probably not heard enough of these guys to have an informed opinion on them. They were a band I heard sporadically during the 90s and I was always interested in their stuff but never sought it out. I have now added Ultra to my Amazon wish list an...

Re: Fantaverse Top 100 Songs of All Time (THREAD #3): #80-#71

Shrykespeare: Depeche Mode, “Freelove” (2001) - I lost track of Depeche mode going into the noughties. No idea why, because there's really good stuff on Ultra. This song isn't bad, I appreciate that it's subtle, though I'm not sure if it's grabbing the way some of their other stuff does. Gahan's vo...

Re: Fantaverse Top 100 Songs of All Time (THREAD #3): #80-#71

Shrykespeare -- Depeche Mode, “Freelove” (2001) Not a bad song, kinda makes me want to listen to more stuff from these guys :) any songs you recommend? Oy. That's gonna require some thought, dude, DM has been around for thirty years . They've put out over 20 albums, including live and compl...

Re: Fantaverse Top 100 Songs of All Time (THREAD #3): #80-#71

Not much middle ground today. My reactions (in order of preference): englishozzy – Wheatus, “Teenage Dirtbag” – Oh, ozzy, why couldn’t you have joined us at #100? Five songs in, and I have yet to dislike anything you’ve put up. And not only will I not give you “stick”, I’ll say that I LOVE this song...

Re: Fantaverse Top 100 Songs of All Time (THREAD #3): #80-#71

First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY UNDEADMONKEY! Today’s lineup marks three things: the end of our third thread, the first time since we started that we’ve had the same artist represented twice on the same day, and the first time we’ve heard a Chili Peppers song chosen. (I was wondering when we’d get one....

Re: Full Year 2010-11 Draft Room

Okay, last pick time. I considered the camp value of Piranha 3D , the demographic appeal of Lottery Ticket , the preteen factor of Ramona and Beezus , the cast of Faster , and the late-in-the-game prospects of Drive Angry and Bobbie Sue . But in the end, I'll take Just Wright , because it's been adv...

Re: Fantaverse Top 100 Songs of All Time (THREAD #3): #80-#71

Yea, it really is amazing how many differences we have in our lists and yet there is so much the same! I have been curious from the beginning if at any point during this thing somehow two people end up with the same song in a position, how insane would that be out of all the millions of songs out t...

SPEARE'S TIPS: MOST ANTICIPATED FILMS (May-July)

Well, the time has come to usher in the next “season” of films. The anticipation has been building ever since the excitement for Avatar started to die down. The first third of 2010 is over (where DID the time go…), and now it is time for me to reveal the select group of films that I am most jazzed a...

Re: Fantaverse Top 100 Songs of All Time (THREAD #3): #80-#71

Shrykespeare Foo Fighters, “Monkey Wrench” (1997) - Love this choice Shryke. One of a handful of favourites of theirs. It has so much rock energy. I reckon you could be right about Dave Grohl. How's the Beaconsfield Miners story? Two miners trapped underground, discovered after five days, but not r...

Re: Full Year 2010-11 Draft Room

Wow, I didn't have any of this round's picks on my list.

I'll take The Factory. It's coming out the same weekend as Edge of Darkness did this year... hopefully it will fare a little better (John Cusack instead of Mel).
