Re: The Official 2014-15 Full Year Draft Thread (Division B)

Total blind shot in the dark here but all the remaining known wide releases look awful and I don't feel like gambling on any of the remaining Oscar bait so I'm going with Merry Friggin' Christmas. I don't even know if the thing will come out this year like it's supposed to but it seems like every fe...

Re: The Official 2014-15 Full Year Draft Thread (Division B)

I was going to take Trash and hope Daldry kept his streak alive but since I got sniped by a few picks, I'll pull a 180 and go with the pick I wanted to save for the last round: Left Behind . Back in the day the books were as popular as anything and just because the first one bombed doesn't mean this...

Re: The Official 2014-15 Full Year Draft Thread (Division B)

I will take Kitchen Sink so I can have one more with a definite release date. And then I'll take Knight of Cups . Malick, Bale, Portman. 'Nuff said. Love to get your opinions on that... Definitely like the thought behind Knight of Cups but I decided not to take it earlier because I'm not sure it ma...

Re: The Official 2014-15 Full Year Draft Thread (Division B)

Where are you guys finding some of these TBAs? I've had a good number of the ones picked on my list but some of these other ones I haven't seen... feel like there's a gap in my research.

Re: The Official 2014-15 Full Year Draft Thread (Division B)

I'll enter the TBA fray and go with The Cobbler. Even though it's not the usual goofy comedy, a warm dramedy seems to be more up Sandler's alley than some of the serious flops he's had over the years... and hopefully given that they have already wrapped production, it'll come out within our timeframe.

Shryke does but no need, I'm on it. Picking in a few. 8-)

Re: The Official 2014-15 Full Year Draft Thread (Division B)

I'll chip away at the remaining non-TBA wide releases and take Step Up All In. God, I hate these movies. Looking back at least year's A league though, there were only 5 movies taken in rounds 10-16 that made more money than Step Up: Revolution did in 2012. The franchise is definitely in decline post...

Re: The Official 2014-15 Full Year Draft Thread (Division B)

After a few rounds of popular slop, I'm snagging some Oscar bait and taking Boyhood. I can't decide how this one will do... on one hand, it's an incredibly ambitious, fascinating project and the reviews are absolutely spectacular. However, the steep 165 mins run time (although the reviews I've read ...

Re: The Official 2014-15 Full Year Draft Thread (Division B)

I don't disagree with your analysis at all Spectre, and think they'll probably both do fine. But it got me thinking, when was the last year where the top Horror movie camp out over Halloween? Has it been awhile? Was the Conjuring the top one from last year? Anything bigger than that? Off the top of...

Re: The Official 2014-15 Full Year Draft Thread (Division B)

And Spectre, you dont have to justify yourself, it is the shithouse rounds. That said, im starting to regret taking Paranormal Activity 5, still hopeful for 60m though. And horror fans dont care about a millionth sequel right? No matter, im sure they will get some scares My take on Halloween is thi...

Re: The Official 2014-15 Full Year Draft Thread (Division B)

While I was tempted to gamble on some Oscar bait, I love Halloween too much not to have a pony in the race so I'm taking Ouija . It could fall flat on its face but so long as it's not abysmally horrible, I think it could be a real break out surprise. White/Snowden have hit $45M+ on all 3 of their pr...

Re: The Official 2014-15 Full Year Draft Thread (Division B)

Keep telling yourself that Spectre :) I'm also going for a sequel, but one of much higher pedigree ;) The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel 2 . The first one made 47 million! I don't know how that's possible, but every old person I know saw it and loved it, so hopefully they'll head back for a second help...

Re: The Official 2014-15 Full Year Draft Thread (Division B)

With great shame I'll take Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2. Yes it sucked, yes this should somehow be worse and yes, it only has 2 weeks of run time with this release date. It also made $65M during its first 2 weeks and dammit, if Grown Ups 2 can somehow repeat its original success at the box office despite ...

Re: The Official 2014-15 Full Year Draft Thread (Division B)

Hoo boy. When I made a list of 10 movies to cover the next 12 picks, I didn't think I'd lose every one of them... you guys need to get out of my head. :P I guess I'll go with Business or Pleasure. Vince Vaughn hasn't had a hit in a few years but an out-of-control European business trip feels like it...
