Re: Rate That Movie 3!: With a Vengeance

I've seen Spider-Man, and as anyone who I'm friends with on Facebook here can tell you, I would give it a "pass". It's got strong performances, especially from Emma Stone, but they change nothing from the 2002 one. Unless you want to see Peter Parker get bitten by a spider again, watch him crawl up...

Re: What are you watching RIGHT NOW.... or close to now. S03

I watched a Paul Rudd hippie double bill this week and I was surprised how much I liked Wanderlust. It definitely dragged in the second act and the sudden addition of a villain midway through through the movie didn't improve matters any, but it was the little things and the chemistry between the mai...

Re: Prometheus FAQ -- SPOILERS

Q: Why did the Prometheus crew agree to go on a four-year mission when they're not even briefed on what the mission was until the mission starts? A: Money. Also, this setup seems pretty in-line with the other installments in the franchise. The Corporation operates on a need-to-know basis, and these...

Re: Rate That Movie 3!: With a Vengeance

Thanks to you both for actually reading that late-night ramble. You know what I'd like to see? A "movie club" where the members fully trust the recommendations (probably chosen by a committee of credentialed or--at least--trust-worthy voices), and they submit to watching movies "blind." No preface,...

Re: Rate That Movie 3!: With a Vengeance

For what it's worth, I went in to Prometheus with fairly low expectations, and I was still disappointed. The initial trailer blew me away, as did some of the viral marketing campaign, but the second trailer that delved more into the plot and dialogue sent up red flags. I tried to avoid reading revie...

Re: 2012-13 Full Year Waiver Wire

Here's a question: if one of the films on the list gets a release date confirmed, is there another 2 day "grace" period or not? Say, if Virgilandia or Labor suddenly were announced as getting hugely wide resleases and were thrown into a prime period is it a case of first-come-first-serve, or does t...

Re: 2012-13 Full Year Waiver Wire

Your examples are how I currently understand the system. A simpler way to organize things might be: On Waivers: (Waiver Draft List Applies) Atlas Shrugged 2: Electric Shrugaloo Cleared Waivers: (first come, first served) Dead Man Down All TBA films Whether something is scheduled or not makes no diff...

Re: Trailer: Here Comes The Boom

I look forward to the hilarious sequel where Kevin James is suffering from post-concussion syndrome and is no longer able to teach.

The rules still haven't been added to the first page, but my understanding is that you can do that, no problem. But I've been wrong before.

Re: THE OFFICIAL 2012 FANTASY GAME THREAD

In the Regulars Leagues: Box Office - Movies You Hate to Admit You Love It's a two-horse race. Aquamann needs Brave to outgross Snow White/Prometheus by $53M in order to catch JohnErle. You got my hopes up there for a second, but then I double-checked and confirmed that Aquamann also has Snow White...

Re: #31 - The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai... (1984)

It probably won't have the same effect on me since I know what I'm in for and the presenters are not people I know already as credible newsmen, but the fact that so many Brits were apparently fooled and scared shitless makes me want to see it. One thing we're lacking in this spoiler-filled internet ...

Re: #31 - The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai... (1984)

I'm a blubbing mess most days of the week, so watching Scanners would at least give me an excuse.

I'd never heard of Ghostwatch, and I'm slightly disappointed to learn that it's not about a phantom timepiece. You can't have it all, but it does sound very intriguing. That's going on my must-see list.

Re: #31 - The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai... (1984)

I saw the Scanners trailer with the exploding heads as a child and it scarred me for life. I was too squeamish to watch it for years. Enough time has passed and the f/x are probably dated enough that I could watch it now without incurring any more psychological damage.
