Re: What are you watching RIGHT NOW.... or close to now. S03E01
Sadly no, Shryke bugged me about it a couple weeks back, but time is just not going to allow me to participate. I am hoping to spend a little more time back around here regardless, and I peeked in at the top 100 posts (though I only made it thru skimming the first page of the first thread) so maybe ...

Re: Rate That Movie!
Eustace was not mentioned nor appeared in any of the prior books, he only pops up in Voyage first. Silver Chair being the next in the series is led by him and Jill Pole, who they cheesily alluded to at the end of the movie (his mom yells in "jill pole is here to see you" however he had not yet met h...

If you liked that then I seriously recommend checking out other Powell and Pressburger movies (I don't know how many you've seen), such as The Red Shoes, A Matter Of Life And Death and Peeping Tom, a couple of which made my top 100. They have equally stunning and inspiring cinematographies. The Red...

Re: Rate That Movie!
I quite liked Dawn Treader. It seemed like too long a story to be crammed into one film, hence it felt incomplete, but I still found it enjoyable. My favorite character was Reepicheep the mouse, who had a much larger role this time. Simon Pegg voiced him brilliantly. Saw Voyage of the Dawn Treader ...

Re: Rate That Movie!
Well I really have little to add here but I thought I would drop in and say hi! I finally saw a movie, for my birthday... Surprise... Harry Potter. Definitely my favorite after Prisoner of Azkhaban. This being more of a "journey" film it certainly moved a little bit slower than others in the series,...

Re: Fall Schedule 2010
I caught up on all the premier episodes from 2 weeks ago of shows that I watch, all very good so far. The new show pilots I checked out so far were The Event, Detroit 1-8-7, Terriers and Outsourced. I Will definitely NOT be following The Event (they lost me with the skipping back and forth in time, ...

Finally watched Choke... what a letdown :( The movie was okay, but I absolutely loved the book, so I was hoping there would be a little bit of the same qualities to it. It had the major plot points, but that was about it. 5/10 Edit: Also, almost done reading Fight Club as well... much better than th...

I dunno if he's a favorite actor ever, but I certainly agree with the sentiment. He took things to a whole new level, it was very borat/bruno-esqe but exponentially better... I'm dying to see this movie.BanksIsDaFuture wrote:Joaquin Phoenix is now my favorite actor ever, simply because he spent a whole year doing this.

Re: Found Sounds
Missing you guys lately, I haven't been able to be around much lately, and starting a 3 day a week crossfit class tomorrow so I fear my availability won't be getting any better... Here is a great upbeat song from a canadian band I loved when I was in my teens. The album this was on had about 30+ min...

Saw this one ahead of Scott Pilgrim, it looks nothing like D9.. at all. Have you even seen that film? This looks more like War of the Worlds, aliens land and begin decimating humanity.

The foreigners probably know of this band, but in the states I am pretty sure they are unknown. One of their weirdest but most talented bands vocally I've ever heard, they almost always incorporate sounds from childrens toys in their songs..

7/10 - Saw Dinner for Schmucks this weekend, really enjoyed it but it definitely suffered from paul rudd syndrome, in that it wrapped up too neatly with everyone learning a lesson in the end. It was somewhat salvage by the simply over the top aspects ("Kieran" was brilliant) and the R-rated humor. I...

Re: Fall Schedule 2010
Jennifer Grey!? WOAH there is a blast from the past. She should take the whole thing, but who knows. As far as Margaret Cho, has her career ever really been that successful that you wouldn't see her here? I mean I am even a fan of her standup and I still don't see her as being that popular. Really a...

Re: Rate That Movie!
Excellent pick Don, I personally just undertook working through the ginormous copy of the Collected Works of Edgar Allan Poe that I picked up for 5.99... it a bit daunting. Fun fact, the king of macabre fiction has a character named Professor Rubadub... sounds like a talking chimp to meee! I've spen...
