Re: Fantaverse Top 100 Songs of All Time (THREAD #6): #50-#41

Shrykespeare: The Cranberries, “Analyse” (2001) - I dunno, Shryke, I think it's songs like these that made the Cranberries split up, or at least fail to sell records. It just sounds like a band who couldn't do anything with the sound they were popular for, and this just sounds like a tired attempt ...

Numbersix: Sigur Ros, “Ny Batteri” (2000) - I only own Takk, and from that the rather famous Hoppipolla is my favourite, so it was good to hear something from their earlier works. Dude, you HAVE to pick up their earlier records, especially Agaetis Byrjun and their () album. Post rock at its peak. u...

Re: Fantaverse Top 100 Songs of All Time (THREAD #6): #50-#41

Man, what a SPECTACULAR round this is. Sadly, I'm out of the country for the next two days to attend a wedding, so I won't be able to comment much. But in brief: Shrykespeare: Billy Idol, “To Be a Lover” (1986) - Didn't like this at all. It totally showed the limits of Idol's voice and it sounded li...

I second Shryke's sentiments, Boosch. Just because we give you a bit of ribbing as to where your taste comes from, I think it's safe to say that all of us at some stage has truly loved at least a handful of your picks. Hell, we both had Sweet Jane on our Top 100! I'd rather read your thoughts on why...

Re: SPEARE'S TIPS - The Films of 5/28

You're right, W, it is about an American who ends up in Japan. I guess the racism argument is not about the casting, but about writing a story in which the troubles of a nation can only be solved when an Americn comes in and somehow makes it better. The same argument has been applied to Avatar. Don'...

Re: Fantaverse Top 100 Songs of All Time (THREAD #6): #50-#41

I'm sure I'm considered one of the harsher people when it comes to songs I just don't like. If so all I can say is all I'm doing is trying to express (and in a way, understand) why I don't like that particular song/act/genre, and I'm not trying to be personal. If my comments are starting to offend a...

That's like saying that I don't have reason to be concerned/incensed by the oil gushing toward our coasts, because I live in a land locked state. Lebanon may not immediately touch Iraq, but its alot closer than I am to the beach. I couldn't get more than one state away from here in the same distanc...

Re: Lost

I summed up my thoughts about Lost as a finale and Lost as a series, if anyone is interested. Overall, I'm kinda on the fence:

Geezer wrote: Span- I've been meaning to use this line myself. Remind me next time Six refers to one of my songs that has a deep, personal meaning to me that he says a hundred other bands said the same thing. Maybe he'll be able to point out some new good songs for me!

Numbersix David Bowie, “Ashes to Ashes” (1980) I can't decide to run or to be intrigued when a bowie song comes on. That being said, i didnt mind this song. I just feel like his career is built on his weirdness, just like Lady Gaga's career has been built on craziness. just sayin No, I don't think ...

Re: Fantaverse Top 100 Songs of All Time (THREAD #6): #50-#41

Shrykespeare: Better Than Ezra, “Briefly” (2001) - Nope, still worse than Erza. And the idea of life and love being short, so appreciate what you have is pretty much a cliche to me. NSpan: Cat Stevens, "If You Want To Sing Out, Sing Out” (1970) - It's a very simple, likeable song. I'm not sure if i...

Re: SPEARE'S TIPS - The Films of 5/28

Sorry UDM, but I disagree. While both Worthington and Di Caprio were in films previously, they were certainly not famous, and the average movie-goer did not know who they are prior to those movies.
