Re: #17 - The Pianist (2002)

Fair enough - I guess I assumed everyone had seen it as it was an Oscar film. I think my problem with The Pianist is probably I have WWII-overdose, and I felt The Pianist added very little from what I've already seen or read (a vulgar formula would be Schlinder's List+The Diary of Anne Frank=The Pia...

Re: Rate That Movie!

I agree with NSpan. I did buy the authenticity of the film (mostly) without having to give a crap about the characters. Now, I'm not saying PA is a good film. In fact, you can pretty much say that PA isn't really a film, just like Blair Witch isn't a film. It's a gimmick, an experiment in scareiness...

Re: Rate That Movie!

Remember Geez that the ripped copy has the original ending, not the cinema one. Also agree about leaving the door open. Plus, I don't get why he'd agree to stay with her for that last night

Re: #17 - The Pianist (2002)

It's strange, but I really don't think that this film deserves a movie club- it's above-average and recent. Hasn't everyone seen it?

Re: Halloween Quote Spooktacular

I just realised what 10 is (got thrown off because I'd hardly consider it a fitting film for Halloween, but anyway)- it's Jimmy Stewart in Hitchcock's Vertigo

Re: Rate That Movie!

Yeah Woody has taken a few steps back from the days in which he openly bashed the pretentious hypocritical pseudo-intellectual snob. Like that one scene in Anie Hall, where at a California party a guy is talking on the phone (a young Jeff Goldblum, I believe) and says "I've forgotten my mantra".
