Re: Coronavirus Megathread

I knew zero people that tested positive until about ten days ago. Now six. The craziest thing is now our entire county health department closed today for two weeks because every single person that works there is quarantined.

Re: Coronavirus Megathread

I can confirm that this virus sucks. I came down with it October 4 and got tested the next day and it came back negative. Then I learned people I knew (but hadn't seen) tested positive. After a week I went back to get tested and yesterday I was confirmed positive. I was basically told by the local a...

Re: The NBA Thread

You can’t just sign free agents and go over the cap in the NBA. In the NBA you can go over the cap to sign long tenured players (3 years with the same team signing them). You can also pay these guys more than if you just signed them as a FA. It entices them to stay with the same team. They’re called...

Re: The NBA Thread

People say the income tax thing about the NBA, but free agents are always tripping over themselves to go to California (the highest in the country). Kyrie and KD went to New York state (one of the highest). I don't remember the last big free agent that went to San Antonio, Dallas, Orlando, or Housto...

Re: The NBA Thread

With everything going on at the same time (NBA Finals, MLB playoffs, NFL...). The NHL is even more buried than normal. Everything gets eaten by the NFL here. I got into hockey a little bit before everything crashed just because I'm now legally allowed to place bets on it. But even my twitter name is...

Re: The NBA Thread

The one I'm watching is Derek Rose. No NBA MVP has been excluded from the Hall (Dirk is the only retired one our after KG/Timmy/Kobe were announced), but Rose's career is closer to Dana Barros and he's listed with an 11.9% chance (basketball-reference).

Re: The NBA Thread

History says Lakers, but I'm hoping for a Piston-esque run for Miami. That's really the only team with zero superstars to ever win an NBA championship. That said, Ben Wallace should be a Hall of Famer. He was a finalist last year and this year was brutal with KG, Duncan, and Kobe. He may have missed...

If it helps you at all my screening of New Mutants was beaten by my screening of Copperfield 2 customers to 1.

Re: Coronavirus Megathread

I've been to a theater twice since they reopened. It's super clean and almost everyone is staying away (I go off peak hours anyway). One showing had seven people in the entire theater, the other maybe ten. It's probably safer than me coming into work everyday and I see max five people a day. It's de...

Seaver faced Brock more than any other player. Brock faced Seaver more than any player.

Every once in a while I'll pull the video where Ricky Henderson breaks his base stealing record. Absolutely a top five Cardinal with Pujols, Ozzie, Gibson, and Musial.

Re: What Are You Watching Right Now? Episode 3 - Turtles in Time

If I knew you were renting Bill & Ted I'd have split it with you. With sports going strong now and theaters just now opening up (and rewatching The Wire) I didn't see much in August: The Outsiders 9/10 King of Staten Island 7/10 Slither 8/10 Strange Brew 7/10: Great dumb comedy. Happy to see Rick Mo...

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep

Yeah, Tenet isn’t great. Convoluted and everything is so loud you can’t understand the dialogue half the time. One guy mumbles while another speaks through a mask and at the same time there’s a loud tone.

It makes very little sense at times for the above reasons.

Chadwick Boseman has passed away at 43 after a four-year battle with cancer.
Just saw this. First thought was “What the fuck?” Then “He’s 43?” Then “Four years? How do you hide that?” He’s been working steady through this whole thing? Tragic as Hell.

Oh, and Nomadland will open on December 4th. Chloe Zhao kept busy during the layoff.
The Rider was really good. I'd like to see what she can do with a couple real actors before Eternals, so I'm there if it plays near me. I wonder how her style will translate to Marvel.
