Re: Reel Society Music

People really let the potential of other people disagreeing with them and bashing their opinions keep them from saying them? The internet was built on people crushing each others opinions. If you think what goes on here was nasty, you've probably never scrolled through the comments on a youtube vid...

Re: Reel Society Music

Man... I'm glad I called that guy! http://www.inflexwetrust.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/BillyMadison.jpg Hah! You just reminded me that I was more inclined to watch Billy Madison after the countdown but never got around to it. After Googling the story behind that joke I'm even more inclined.

Re: Reel Society Music

Yes some picks in the movie and song countdowns were mauled, but all in the nicest of ways. That's a matter of opinion, and I disagree. I thought there many cases of people being quite obnoxious. Maybe people were more open-minded during the song countdown, but I didn't participate in that so I can...

Re: Reel Society Music

I don't buy the argument that just because it's the internet you have to expect people to be judgmental. We're all supposedly part of a community here, or at least casual acquaintances, so if a friend tells you he loves something, what possible good can come from turning around and telling him you ...

Re: Reel Society Music

I'm leaning towards not participating in this. 1 per day for the next 100 days seems like overkill, and providing YouTube links, release dates, and favourite tracks from 100 albums sounds like a lot of work without enough reward. The main thing I remember from the movie countdown is that certain use...

Re: Bold Ass Predictions - Sep / Oct

You know what's funny: every time I've seen the trailer in a theater, there's an audible response to it. But I still can't tell if people are murmuring with intrigue--or if they're whispering to each other, "Wow... that looks awful!" Until recently, I just assumed it was the latter. I suspect they'...

Re: Reel Society Music

I finally realized that 90% of music from EVERY era is garbage , and that hindsight is always much prettier. So I finally got into the music of my own generation, discovering some amazing local acts in Austin and letting the more nationally-known stuff pass the test of time before diving into new d...

Re: Reel Society Music

The further I trim, the more "standard" and traditional my list is looking. But I'm trying to be completely honest. I'm not including any indie/fringe/experimental/hip records just to show off my amazing taste in alternative music. Sometimes "The Greats" are called that for a reason. So, no, The Re...

I just learned that Benny Hill was born on the same day Lenin died. There's a joke in there somewhere, but I'll let NSpan tell it.

Re: top 10 of 2012

I like the folkier side of your picks, especially Hallelujah and the Barr Brothers. I think I'll try to work Beggar In The Morning into the DRR playlist. I've playing Of Monsters And Men for a while now, but that's not my favourite track of theirs. I kinda liked the Birdy too, but I'd have to give i...

No offence was intended, I'm sure. His hand is permanently stuck in that position because of the arthritis.

Happy Birthday, Shryke.
