I don't know about you guys, but I know exactly what movie I'm going to when I show up at the multiplex. And, while I think the occasional film goer wanders in without knowing what they're going to see, most art house film goers, on the other hand, are more aware and selective, so I think they know ...

That's probably the case. Three films in a franchise seems to be the limit in the U.S.. That would explain the Spidey reboot and the Bourne franchise reinventing itself. I'm pretty much sure with 2 of my top 3 picks tanking, I'm close to the bottom for the duration. I think the Colorado tragedy affected the entire top 5 at the box office this weekend. Ice Age was down 57% in its second weekend. That's just awful for an animated movie with its pedigree.
