Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

Hope all is well with udm. I'll go with Final Destination: Bloodlines . It's currently dated TBD 2025 but they've said they want it to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the first one which was released in March so I'm guessing that this one will slot into spring. It's been forever since one has ...

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

The films on the calendar are pretty bleak at this point. Alto Knights (another movie filmed in Cincinnati!) is the last one I was considering over my TBDs although I'm fairly certain it's going to be terrible with DeNiro playing both leads haha. I'll take another film that sounds like it may be a h...

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

We’re already into gross territory. I’m about to take off on a flight but to avoid delaying this, I guess I’ll take The Bikeriders . I don’t trust Focus at all to get more than $20-30M out of a release but the cast is good, reviews are solid and it filmed close to me in Cincinnati. Maybe it’ll leg o...

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

I'll take They Listen. Feels like the right time of the draft to take a Screen Gems/Blumhouse horror film that's been shelved for over a year and dumped into the back of August.

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

Going to stick with films on the calendar at this juncture of the draft after last year’s TBD whiff(s) debacle. I’ll take The Watchers (the M. Night Shyamalan adjacent horror). It’s his daughter directing but it has the same feel his movies do and the trailer makes it seem like there’s a half baked ...

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

Already starting to get thin here. I guess I'll take Speak No Evil. McAvoy has already shown his thriller chops and the original was pretty well reviewed so maybe there's some hope of a mild breakout.

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

Well, the only other films I was considering just went back to back to back again so what the hell… (apologies to Chien) Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 2 I can’t recall the last time releases have been stacked on top of each other like this, taking both parts of the same movie is fun and kinda ...

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

I reallllly wanted to take Mickey 17 and I’ll be watching it for sure but that release date makes me think WB doesn’t have any faith in it

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

Well my entire queue just got picked in a row so I'm in slight panic mode... thanks for nothing you guys :D There's still a handful of interesting options out there but I'll take a gamble and go with Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1 . Feels like a classic boom or bust pick... I don't trust Warn...

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

Minecraft is going to be absolutely huge (although I have no idea why they made it live action), the only thing that made me pass it is the possibility that it gets pushed into the summer. Wicked is on a different level than Cats. It's much more popular, based on a beloved IP, and isn't even close t...

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

Apparently Lin Manuel Miranda is writing the music for Mufasa, feeling better about it already  For my next pick I'll avoid the mountain of sequels and remakes and go with Wicked (hoping that adaptations do better). They need to keep advertising it as is without telling people that it's Part On...

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

Yeah I was surprised to see Mufasa fall to me at 7 but I can see why… it’s the exact kind of movie audiences are pushing back against. Then again, so is most everything else on the board
