Re: What Are You Watching Right Now? Episode 3 - Turtles in Time
I have been haunted for a couple of days now by a movie I watched on Saturday night: The Red Shoes (1948). Didn't have any expectations going in although I was skeptical I'd like it. I was mesmerized. It just left me in a stupor. I went out yesterday and bought the Criterion dvd so I can watch it ag...

Re: Who has actually seen West Side Story?
Had a friend from New Zealand and we watched West Side Story because it was his favourite movie. To be honest, I wasn't really into it the first time, but 20 years (!) later as my perspective continues to evolve and refine, I've grown to admire it more.
Haven't seen the other two you mentioned.

Re: My spoiler-free review of "The Lighthouse"
This was filmed in Nova Scotia in the Yarmouth area. I've got a cottage near by. I wasn't around for any of it but apparently Willem Dafoe was a local fixture and approachable. This was also one of the films featured at the Atlantic Film Festival here in Halifax. Dafoe flew back into town to be a pa...

Sorry about the absense guys. Personal and professional turmoil is going to have me out of the loop for a while. Good luck to all and, again, my apologies for not being able to contribute.

Ben-Hur only at #62. Wow!
I've enjoyed reading through your lists and, to be honest, can't even begin to imagine the difficulty in keeping track of what you've seen, how you've rated it and then separating it into a sensible list. Kudos and appreciation for the time and hard work.

It's hard to say. I'm not really a Sandler fan so I tend to under estimate how well his movies do at the box office. That said, this looks really, really terrible! How can this movie not fail?
But then again I've said that on more than a few of Sandler's movies.

Re: Sports Teams Most Likely To Relocate
Just found this thread. The Blue Jays have solid ownership and won't leave. Interesting to listen to Anthopoulos and Beeston talk about the finances of the Jays. Rogers offers to up the budget every year, (well, since Ricciardi was removed as a GM) but Beeston and Anthopoulos are trying to build the...
