Re: Rate That Movie 2!: Electric Boogaloo

Hugo - 5/10 Admittedly, this may be a knee-jerk reaction, but the film ultimately felt like a 2 hour advertisement for Scorsese;s cinema resoration organisation The Film Foundation. It's as agenda-pushing as any Christian Films (Corageous, Fireproof, etc). Which would be fine (hey, he's preaching t...

Re: Rate That Movie 2!: Electric Boogaloo

Hugo (3-D) ****/**** Martin Scorsese's best film since Goodfellas. Everything about it is great. From the performances to the 3-D to even the little dachshunds, the film's 126 minutes are one tasty morsel after another. Go see this movie now! :O Boosh and I both liked the same film... everything th...

Re: Rate That Movie 2!: Electric Boogaloo

I do plan to see tintin, I grew up reading the books and have been anticipating the film for a long time. They had a ton of 3d trailers before Hugo; I think Tintin, The Lorax and The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists all looked pretty worth seeing in 3d, the rest looked stupid or too kiddie f...

Re: Rate That Movie 2!: Electric Boogaloo

Finally got back to a theatre. Hugo 3D - 10/10 Freaking loved it! The first really amazing use of 3D I've seen, everything from the intro fly-through in the train station to the depth it adds to artistic shots of gears/clockworks throughout. The story stayed fairly true to the book, I was pleasantly...

Re: The Netflix Thread (Qwikster is Dead)

...and Qwikster is dead because people have spoken up about it. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/netflix-cancels-plan-dvds-qwikster-132133885.html I saw that via a friend on fb earlier, thank goodness. The sheer annoyance of having to manage completely separate queues (though they moved closer...

Re: Rate That Movie 2!: Electric Boogaloo

Eh. FWB certainly wasn't good, but it also wasn't torturous to sit through either. Like you said, a couple laughs/smiles. Personally I couldn't get over how scrawny and pale JT is.

Re: Sup, Bitches?

The last one was The Debt, before that The Help. I guess before that was HP7 which I knew, but prior I saw a double feature at a drive in with 30 Minutes or Less (didn't know what it was), and Friends with Benefits (knew generally, and knew who was in it... not my selection of movies though)

Re: Sup, Bitches?

I don't know if "living the life" is how I would describe things... I have a vacation day Friday off work simply to try and maintain some semblance of mental health (and get some sleep!). Plus I work on computers for a living, so I'm not really getting any time away from the screen, just spending mo...

Sup, Bitches?

Well I'm certainly not "back", but I told Shryke I would drop in and say Hi... So Hi!!! Not really anything going on with me, working too much as always and living at the gym. That's more or less it. The last 2 or 3 movies I went to see, I went into with no idea who was in it or what they were about...

Re: Rate That Movie 2!: Electric Boogaloo

So I've got What Dreams May Come at home from Netflix. Anyone seen it? Is it worth watching? I love the movie, it is very reminiscent of Dante's Inferno (classic literature). It was in my top 100 films, and I used it in the movie stills guessing game before as its pretty visually stunning. Frankly ...

Re: What Shows are you Into?

The IT Crowd gets better as it settles into. I went to college with the "grungy-type" guy. He was a bit of a jerk but he's good in this. Written by the same writer of Father Ted, a sitcom that is hilarious. YOu went to college with Roy! Hook me up! I want to have his babies (only without the babies)!

Re: Rate That Movie!

I've seen The Green Hornet yesterday night, and I actually found it very enjoyable. It's a fun action comedy that greatly mixes the universes of Gondry and Rogen. The last act slows down a bit, but it's only a minor defect. Very nice film. 3.5/5 I feel about the same, I hadn't even realized Rogen w...

Re: Rate That Movie!

The Black Swan - 9/10 What the eff was that?! Crazy movie, full of shocks and surprises, yet still intense and mental/smart throughout. The film did a good job of capturing the the difficulty level, commitment, and competitive nature of the dance world.. then took it just a notch beyond that into th...

Re: Fantaverse Top 100 Movies of All Time (Thread #2): 90-81

90: Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl - Not sure the film was worthy of being listed, BUT as you say, Depp's character is absolutely epic and worth holding in high regard anyway, and Geoffry RUsh is always a treat as well. The Fifth Element - Great film, very visually striking ...

Re: Fantaverse Top 100 Movies of All Time (Thread #1): 100-91

100: Food, Inc - wow, I can't believe how many of you a) haven't seen this, and b) have no clue what it was about. It has absolutely nothing to do with anti-meat eating, the film is about the corruption and inhumaity of Agribusiness and factory farming. There are numerous great films on the topic th...
