Re: 2023 Festivals/Awards Thread

Killers is definitely not winning Best Picture, though I think Lily Gladstone has a good shot at Supporting Actress (even though she's the lead)

Oppenheimer is still the obvious winner, and past stats are never good at predicting the future.

Glad to listen to some new Sparks!

Also, Surfer said he'll join us, so expect some perfectly-curated indie music.

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep

Isn't Scott putting it out on Apple as a 4-part miniseries?

The film is so divisive I'm tempted to go see it now.

I'm not convinced by Wish either, and definitly think it'll perform on the lower end of the predictions. 40m 5 day and just over 100m. Disney really are struggling for fresh ideas that will bring in an audience. Napoleon will be interesting. Those reviews don't help, despite the historical figure pr...

Re: Screening The Releases - November 17th

I doubt anyone is going to be embarrassed. Yes, the analysts predicted higher and went overboard, but it's still the highest grossing concert film by a huge margin, and has brought in massive profits for all involved. Comparing it to another huge and unpredictable success shouldn't diminish its achi...

Sydney Sweeney has already had her breakout role in Euphoria. She's a special talent that isn't going anywhere anytime soon. As for this shit, it's really cool that Sony is bringing back the 2000's superhero movies! Every generation deserves their own Daredevil, Ghost Rider and Fantastic Four: Rise...

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch

The Zaslav decision only suggests one thing: major cash-flow issues in Warner. Abandoning a project that's nearly complete to claim $30m of insurance money only makes sense when you know you need it right now, otherwise it will take years to recoup that amount after P&A costs. It's a shitty move, bu...

Wow, talk about the lowest stakes I've seen in a big budget movie for some time: find the actor so we can finish the movie!

Not exactly life-changing.
