Re: 2024-25 Full Year Slates
Good point. But since Chien denied my request, let's end the season after this weekend.

Re: SIX TIPS, OR HOW TO PLEASE YOUR SLATE – THE FILMS OF 5/17
Winehouse had a huge hit in the US with Rehab, and Back to Black reached #2 in the album charts. She was more popular than you'd think, and she's constantly being referenced by contemporary singers. If the doc can do $8m, the biopic can do way more.

SIX TIPS, OR HOW TO PLEASE YOUR SLATE – THE FILMS OF 5/17
We’re about half-way through the latest game of Ultimate and Box-Office, so now’s a good time to analyse your slate and see what can be salvaged. If you picked Fall Guy in BO, for example, you may be in trouble. Last week saw solid numbers from the latest Apes film, with an unexpected $58m opening. ...

I vote for a rule change.
We finish this game early. End of May.
Agreed?

Re: 2024-25 Full Year Slates
Right, let's see who has a strong slate. I certainly like Screen. Minecraft was a major risk but if it opens in April it could be the next MArio Bros. Sonic 3 should be reliable. Beetlejuice 2 may not make it past $150m. And Trap could do well as the response to the trailer was strong. On the other ...

Re: 2023-24 Full Year Slates - The Shryke Draft
And to think, this time last year I was so annoyed I didn't draft The Exorcist Believer, and was convinced it would make $150m. And what was I on when I picked Ruby Gillman??? I thought it would be a sleeper family film. I blame being past my baby's due date and the anxiety around that (even though ...

That's an impressive list, Tranny.
Suggested additions:
Queer
The Substance
Maria
Eleanor the Great
Bird
Don't have US distribution deals yet but almost certainly will due to the cast and/or directors

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE
Good Fortune would have been my next pick.
So I'll go with another small film, but one with a date.
Nightbitch
Amy Adams is more popular with a general audience than you'd think
And it's over. Thanks Chien for facilitating, it ran pretty damn smoothly. We're done in just over a week!

Yep, it's exactly like his last few films. Carney makes Wes Anderson look like John Huston.

That's a film I really want to see.
Sadly, when I do it won't contribute to your BO score, Tranny.

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE
Morning, all. Flight Risk is indeed a... risk. Last night I dreamt I was at a wedding and Mel was there, and I grabbed him to ask him about the film. He was surprised I knew about it and said it was going great, then avoided me for the rest of the dream. Hope that's not a bad omen. Conclave is a gre...

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE
Wow, ballsy move. I'm going to do the opposite, take some moderate films. Firstly, going to nab Nickel Boys And hope it's pushed hard for awards season. And then I'm going to take Flight Risk Mel Gibson's next film as a director, with Wahlberg on board, might get it a theatrical release, but who kno...
