Re: Top 50 Songs of 2020 (20-11)

Leetsu: Love this song. Definitely one of the better ones. Reminds me a lot of Bleach-era Nirvana, ina good way! Ron B: Quite nice. Shryke: Really liked this. Actually saw them live once and their equipment was weird as hell. They also provide the theme tune to one of the best shows on TV at the mom...

14, 15, or 15th good for me. I can move around if anyone needs a fixed date.

Re: Top 50 Songs of 2020 (20-11)

#12 Leetsu: Didn't know these guys were back, or did they ever leave? I found this song a little underwhelming and overlong, even if it did sound like classic Mercury Rev Screen: Sounded like Bat for Lashes trying to cover Mad World. Not bad Shryke: Never heard this. Did you listen to Transmissions,...

Re: Top 50 Songs of 2020 (20-11)

#12 Banks: On first listen it felt like it was over before it even started Leetsu: Not bad. sounds like a happy medium between a lot of genres Shryke: The whole song sounds like 1990s New Order Tranny: Never quite got her, although this was a lot better than I expected Not much to add about the othe...

Re: Top 50 Songs of 2020 (20-11)

Banks: This didn't do much for me. She should stick to her day job of fighting Godzilla John: Very much enjoyed this. There's so much gravel in his vocal he could pave a highway. Leetsu: This is top-tier King G for me. Nice and fuzzy and heavy. Ron B: Probably something for the night-club. In the co...

Re: Top 50 Songs of 2020 (20-11)

Hah, that is quite the coincidence. Or is it a conspiracy??? Good round today. Banks and Leetsu: Definitely one of the highlights of the record. A fantastic climax that builds, and has a cinematic intensity. John: Poor Steve Earle. 2020 was a shit year, but for him it was an incomparable tragedy. Sh...

Leetsu:Liked this a lot, and usually I'm not into remixes, particularly ones where a rapper dumps a few bars on top of a song, but here it works really well.

Ron: Surely you're trolling us

Surf: This was decent. Liked its brooding, almost sinister intensity.

Re: Top 50 Songs of 2020 (20-11)

#17 Banks: It's a really nice gesture from the Fresh Prince. Interesting though that he doesn't refer to any musicians as his influences - he's all about Mandela, Ali. No Sugarhill Gang, LL Cool J, Run DMC? There's something deeply arrogant about that. Leetsu: Really enjoyed this. Sure it's not brea...

Re: Top 50 Songs of 2020 (20-11)

Another round that just failed to do much for me. I can tell when Alanis is the only one doing something interesting and different.

The grouplove, SZA, and Total Revenge songs were all nice, although for a second I thought you meant Total Control and was all excited that they had reformed.

Re: Top 50 Songs of 2020 (20-11)

#19 You know something is wrong when Dua Lipa (well, one of her tracks) is the best on offer. And yes, Trampoline is better without the rap section in it. Even the reliable Surf delivered a ho-hum song from those associated with much more talented, exciting names like Dwyer and Segall. And as much a...

Six - HEALTH - You probably could have predicted this, but this is my favorite song you've had so far. Loved it. (P.S. Did not know they were the ones whose remix version of Blue Monday appeared in Atomic Blonde.)
I didn't know that it was HEALTH!

Re: Top 50 Songs of 2020 (20-11)

Banks: I appreciate the sentiment, even if the beats and music weren't much JohnE: Not as pleasant as yesterday Fleet Foxes track Leetsu: Starts off as fairly rote contemporary "punk" but I liked the hardcore bit. Ron B: That's two very different collaborators. Not bad, though Shryke: Fairly bland, ...

Re: Top 50 Songs of 2020 (30-21)

#21 Banks: While I don't like her music that much, this was nice enough. John. This was also nice? Oh no, have I gotten to that age where nothing excited me and my brain starts to shut down and all music is essentially just background niceness?? Leetsu: Shit, maybe I'm right. I also liked this. It w...

#22

Drifted away when listening to a lot of these

John: This was quite nice, actually. Better than the previous one.
Surf: This was great. Like a best of Steve Albini-engineered albums from the 80s and 90s.
