Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep

More flicks from TIFF and LFF Mogul Mowgli: 6/10 Riz Ahmed's latest is also written by him, telling the story of a rapper who returns home, only to discover he is unwell. While the premise isn't exciting, Riz's performance is excellent and the film manages to be slightly more than a dull drama throu...

Re: Coronavirus Megathread

Man, sorry to hear that, W. Sounds awful, especially as it seems you were only briefly exposed. But at least you're doing the right thing and avoiding spreading it around. And hopefully now you're immune. I'm certain I had it in December, as it was the worst flu I've experienced in years, where I co...

Re: Coronavirus Megathread

Yeah my local Picturehouse (the UK's version of Drafthouse, minus the systematic sexual abuse) is closing as its owned by Cineworld too. A real shame, although from what I can tell Tenet was the only film that drew an audience. Fortunately I've a 2-screen independent cinema 10 mins walk, and hopeful...

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep

Limbo: 5/10 The much acclaimed British film is a dryly amusing story of immigrants waiting to get settled status in a remote part of Scotland. The main character is a Syrian musician who can't seem to play, as he waits out the days with virtually nothing to do. While I appreciate the different take...

All I know is that a lot of my friends who don't like Bond were excited by that last trailer.

And I'll take that Billie Eilish song over almost any Bond song in the last 20 years.

With virtually no time for a marketing campaign, it's clearly a disaster

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch

The performances are great, the first scene is incredible, but the last 30 minutes turn it into a poorly written, and difficult to believe, soap opera.

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep

Next batch Wildland: 7/10 It's basically a Danish version of Animal Kingdom. But it's told very well. A teenage girl who loses her mother in a car crash ends up with her aunt's family, who turn out to be criminals. The story is told economically and convincingly, which you don't always see in a debu...

Re: Coronavirus Megathread

The 2 cinemas within walking distance of me are both open. The problem is that there's nothing I want to see. The new release is Les Miserables (the French thriller, not th emusical), which I saw over a year ago. Nothing of interest to me in cinemas until next month - Candyman, maybe Wonder Woman 2,...

I have a feeling that COVID only made this film more desirable to see. In a non-COVID world, I think a lot more of us would have seen through the eye candy.
Which is why Nolan created COVID

We're through the looking glass, here, people.

Yes, because he's deinfitely the ONLY one infected.

Good to see the folks of Hollywood are maintaining their stereotypes of not giving a shit about anyone.

I hear the same thing is going on in Jurassic World 3 - lots of crew have it.
