Re: Top 100 Songs of the Millennium (2000-2019) - THE #1s
Top Discovery: Lucero in general (I know they appeared on your past list, but I'd had completely forgotten about them and was in a hardo phase where I completely hated anything that was even remotely country 10 years ago). Come see them the next time they come around (which won't be too long, they ...

Re: Top 100 Songs of the Millennium (2000-2019) - THE #1s
Man, I love the Middle East too. Lots of great memories from that place, obviously including the night I referenced. Haven't been there in a few years though, seems like they haven't gotten the type of acts the used to lately. I've noticed more bands shifting over to the Sinclair, which is fine, but...

Well I DID give you three different versions! You've said many times that your favourite bands sound better live, and that wouldn't surprise me at all, because I hated the production values on your #1.

Re: Top 100 Songs of the Millennium (2000-2019) - THE #1s
First I'll start by saying thank you to everyone for participating, and especially for Shryke for hosting this whole thing, and hounding us all for submissions week after week. I know I slacked off here at the end, I just needed a break. I promise, I will get around to the last 16 or 17 rounds, wher...

Anyone else want to take a stab? Surfer? JohnE? I wanna see if I can "check all the boxes" with number 1.

I meant like, actually write out a list, in your own words, but thanks anyway six. That song was pretty good. Better than 95% of your list.

Re: Top 100 Songs of the Millennium (2000-2019) - #10-2
I'm going to ask the group for a little help here. You guys have said countless times how my songs sound like each other. That they follow a formula. That they are very "Geezer." Can you identify, specifically, the elements of my musical choices that make my songs identifiable in that way? Getting i...

Re: Top 100 Songs of the Millennium (2000-2019) - #10-2
Yes, I get it, they are similar to Springsteen. They are inspired by Springsteen. They follow the same genre as Springsteen. They are from the same state as Springsteen. They have played shows with the Boss himself. He's a big fan. I connect more to their music on a personal level than I ever have w...

Re: Top 100 Songs of the Millennium (2000-2019) - #10-2
Geezer: Do they tend to close their sets with this? I'm pretty sure that was the case both times I saw them, but a combination of not having seen them live since 2011 and a lack of familiarity with their catalog could be fogging up my memory. Regardless, it's a sufficiently rousing track that defin...

Right on brother! I can definitely say that I never expected to see this on another list, but I'm thrilled. I thought I was the only one who held this song in such high regard.transformers wrote: ↑May 23rd, 2020, 11:25 pm
Like Geez, this is also my favorite song from Toxicity.

Yes he is Jeff Nichols' brother. He did the title song for the film "Loving" that is used at the end credits. It's a really great song, too. Talented family.

Re: Top 100 Songs of the Millennium (2000-2019) - #10-2
Also I'm not surprised in the slightest at the almost universal praise of Lucero from the group, not just because they offer something different from my norm, but because their crowds are always so varied. You have such an eclectic group at a Lucero show and everyone is having a great time because t...

Utterly fantastic round. #8 Mr. Postman - Here at the Starlite - This guy seriously got his Cobain on for this song. Or his Staley. Anyway, I liked it (the song and the story that went with it). 7/10 Right? I've always said if Kurt Cobain were born in Memphis instead of Washington, he'd have sounde...
