Re: 2024-25 Full Year Slates
Standings (up until 5/27) UDM climbs to second and becomes the second $100M hitter. But just barely, with his #1 and #2 films already out. Six, with only one film out, his 3rd round pick, still holds the top spot. Ron enters the game, with disappointing numbers from Furiosa, which clearly isn’t tur...

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep
I just came back from the Cannes Film Festival, where I spent 3 days and discovered 6 films : Savanna and the Mountain 3/10 A very boring Portuguese fake documentary about villagers trying to stop a project that would ruin the environment of their small town. Real villagers reenact what they went th...

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep
I've seen EVIL DOES NOT EXIST last month when it was released here. The ending honestly left me very, very skeptical, but beyond that, I loved it. I know it's slow paced, and often doesn't seem to say much, but Hamaguchi's ability to observe human interaction in their most common aspects is fascinat...

Re: Tranny Tackles the Cinema: The Films of 5/24
When I prepared the draft, I had Garfield in a $75M to $100M potential. So I wouldn't be surprised if it had a hard time even getting to 100M. I don't get the buzz it had during a few weeks. As you say Tranny, the 2000's films didn't really work at the BO back then, plus the animation doesn't look r...

Re: 2024-25 Full Year Slates
Standings (up until 5/20) At the end of the season, will we remember that Six was the first of us to hit $100M ? Well, he is the first of us, while UDM enters the standings with an OK number from IF and a bad one from Back to Black. And Walleye can be satisfied with how The Strangers Chapter 1 laun...

Re: 2024 Festivals/Awards Thread
Yeah, the reviews and WOM for The Substance are stellar, it's crazy, I never expected that. I'm really curious to see it now.
On the other end, Horizon's WOM is catastrophic. Damn.

I was this close to drafting Kosinski's Formula 1 film, good thing I did not.

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch
I thought about it when I read about the release date ! It really seemed like a solid pick in round 6. Oops.transformers2 wrote: ↑May 14th, 2024, 7:31 pmMortal Kombat 2 10/24/25 (Well, this pick didn't take long to backfire )
On the other end, Screen must feel good with this news !

Trailer : Megalopolis
Francis Ford Coppola's Megalopolis is about to be screened in Cannes in a few days, and it's already got a French distrib which will release it in theaters. And it just released the first trailer for it.

Re: 2024-25 Full Year Slates
Standings (up until 5/13) Here are the first standings for our 2024/25 yearly draft ! Six takes the lead thanks to the solid launch of the new Apes movie, which made more in one weekend than Fall Guy made in 10 days. Tarot is making pretty much what we expected from it, not a lot. UDM enters the da...

Re: 2024-25 Full Year Slates
I have a really hard time deciding which slates are more promising this year. Tranny has probably the more balanced and solid slate, I'd say, even if there may not be a breakout hit like he had the last couple of years, but it's solid all over his slate. I like Spectre's slate too. The Horizon movie...

Re: 2023-24 Full Year Slates - The Shryke Draft
I'm not overly concerned about all the troubles the production of Red Note may have suffered. Troubled productions don't necessarily mean troubles at the box-office. If the film is well sold and is something the audience is craving for at the right time, no backstage problems will prevent it from be...

Re: 2023-24 Full Year Slates - The Shryke Draft
I remember being shocked when you grabbed Ruby Gillman in round 3 last year, Six. Although I never thought it would be such a terrible pick. Honestly, I had never heard of Five Night at Freddy's before preparing for last year's draft, do I'm definitely not a gamer indeed  Imagine if that happen...
