Re: Best of 2020
Is it the same "Tigers are not afraid" I saw on the festival circuit in 2017 ? How long will this film be considered a "film of the year" ?

Re: Best of 2020
Olay, so I finally took a look at what I watched this year and came up with a list of my favourite films of the year. 4 Korean films, 3 Americans, 2 French and one Chinese. Top 10, in no particular order : - Les Choses qu'on dit, les choses qu'on fait (The Things we Say, the things we do) (France) -...

Re: The Obituary Thread
My French cinephile heart is broken in pieces today, as it was announced a few hours ago that Jean-Pierre Bacri, probably the best actor/screenwriter/playwright coming from France those last 40 years, has passed away (damn cancer). He was 69. If you don't know him, do yourself a favour and watch the...

Re: Top 50 Songs of 2020 (50-41)
Nothing really stood out for me in the #49 lot.
Maybe Leestu's The Smith Street band was the one I enjoyed the most, and Allegaeon was the one I listened to the least, but in between, nothing I'll return to I think.

Re: Top 50 Songs of 2020 (50-41)
I may not participate because I haven't listened to that much "new" music this year, but I'll listen and comment as much as I can on yours, guys. And maybe I'll send Shryke my Top 3 songs of the year when we come to that point. Ok, so #50, nothing has struck me here. Flat Worms, by Leestu, is the ki...

I have to say I love the weirdness of Barb and Star's trailer.

We definitely should consider this, yes, either, best since 2000, or best of the 2010's.

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep
There are more Chiens in the world than you think We're an army. I paid £20 to see Ma Rainey's Black Bottom in my local cinema a week before its Netflix release, just for that big-screen experience Yeah, last year I paid 10€ to go see Uncut Gems in theaters instead of seeing it on Netflix, it was t...

I'm jealous you could still go see films in theaters.
They are still closed here in France, have been since late october. Still no sign of re-opening in the coming weeks, it won't happen until late january at best.

Re: Best of 2020
I need to put down all the films I've seen this year. Probably not that much by my standards, but still a good 160/180 if I count all the Korean films I've watched for my festival. But counting only the films released in the US, I won't have that much. I'll take a look at it this week.

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep
Tenet 1/10 what self indulgent trash. I used to think memento was nolans worst film and now i can consider it a masterpiece compared to this. Nolan was so lucky he can blame covid for its performance, i truly believe this would have not made much more in normal times. Has everyone else seen it? May...

Re: Coronavirus Megathread
Sorry to hear about the family member, Six.
Here we were released from a softer lockdown that in spring on December 15, I've still been living pretty much like a monk since then, except seing family on Christmas. W'll see what happens in early January, but I'm hoping to go back out much more then.

What an earthquake. I'm curious what the repercussions will be internationally.
