Re: The Trailers Shown Before Other Movies Thread

Trailers before Kung Fu Panda 4 3D - The Garfield Movie Unsung Hero (The trailer for this is really odd - not sure why you would use another band's song in a trailer for a musical biopic.) Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire IF (Short, TV spot-esque trailer) Shrek 2 20th Anniversary Re-Release The Wild ...

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch

The reason I think Neon is acquiring so much horror as of late has to do with the success past independent distributors have had with the genre. I'm not sure how much success they will have with horror (they have released a few horror films in the past, and - unless you count Parasite as a horror fi...

Re: The Trailers Shown Before Other Movies Thread

I suspect that the Quiet Place: Day One trailer will be with pretty much everything until June as well, though I'm looking forward to seeing it so it doesn't bother me too much.

Monkey Man
La Chimera
I Saw The TV Glow

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch

I imagine Disney/Searchlight is attempting to follow the (relative) success of Asteroid City last year by its June release date for Kinds Of Kindness. That being said, even with the success of The Favourite and Poor Things I'm not sure Yorgos Lanthimos is a Wes Anderson-level draw, and (if it is ope...

Screening The Releases - March 15th

Last Week At number one we have a bit of a surprise, as Kung Fu Panda 4 overperformed its expectations, grossing almost 58 m. I believe that the drought of family films in the marketplace is helping significantly here, as well as goodwill from Puss In Boots: The Last Wish. Despite the heavy competi...

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch

From looking at my area, the re-release of Ex Machina is playing at most IMAX theaters near me. Tickets for the other films in the series do not seem to be up yet, so how wide they release may depend on the success or failure of this re-release (which - although pretty unlikely - I am hoping will ru...

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep

Imaginary When I saw this trailer for the first time in November, I knew I had to see it, for reasons Lionsgate/Blumhouse almost definitely didn't intend for. Not since The Hurricane Heist have I seen a trailer (IMO) sell such an unintentionally comedic experience. Does it deliver? Yes and no. I fe...

Re: The Trailers Shown Before Other Movies Thread

Trailers before Imaginary - Arthur The King (Not really a trailer, but a PSA for a charity that featured Mark Wahlberg and - presumably - the dog from the movie. It played right before the screen was adjusted into scope and the lights dimmed/the Fathom Events marketing played) Tarot (This looks to b...

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep

Dune: Part Two This is probably Villeneuve's best since Arrival, IMO. That being said, I found both Blade Runner 2049 and especially the first part of Dune overrated, so you should probably take my opinion with a grain of salt. I think it will be very difficult to beat this in the technical categor...

Re: The Trailers Shown Before Other Movies Thread

Interesting - maybe it's an IMAX thing?

I do feel like Universal should have a new trailer out for The Fall Guy by now, though. Maybe it will get one after its SXSW debut.

Trailers before Dune: Part Two Digital IMAX - Challengers (New trailer) Kingdom... The Fall Guy (Trailer from November. They should really release a new trailer, as this one still says "Next Year") Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire Twisters A Quiet Place: Day One Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Godzilla X Kong: T...

Screening The Releases - March 1st

Last Week On the last week before Dune: Part Two, Bob Marley: One Love held at number one, while most of the new releases underperformed. It grossed about 13.5, dropping 53 percent from last weekend's three-day, for a total of 71 m so far. While it may have another sharp fall against Dune, it shoul...

Re: Trailer: The Watchers

The marketing for this has been really effective so far, IMO.

Not sure how it will turn out in terms of quality, but if it's good, I could see it doing 60 m or so.
