Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch
Transformers One is now set to open the same day as The Wild Robot (which I think looks considerably better), I guess the latter will move to either October or late August.

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep
The Last Voyage of the Demeter 5/10 Not dreadful but definitely a rather meh experience. It looks nice enough visually, there's some occasional decent tension, and the actors try their best with this material. However it's far too long and slow paced, and therefore can only keep momentum for brief ...

Re: Screening The Releases - April 12th
The Shrek 2 re-release outgrossed the 3 recent Pixar re-releases combined! It shows that there's certainly appetite for Shrek 5.
I haven't been able to go to the movies these past few weeks, but I'm hoping to do a double feature with Abigail and another movie this weekend.

Well, here it is. The moment that Tran has probably been dreading for a while.

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep
Freelance 2/10 This is the worst recent release that I've seen since that shitty oil rig movie! 108 minutes of my life that are gone forever. It's horribly directed and written, badly acted (I enjoy Cena in other stuff but he needs a decent script), there's zero chemistry, it's not even remotely fu...

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep
The Iron Claw 8/10 Yeah, it is quite good. I probably wouldn't watch it again anytime soon, but it's a very well made, tremendously acted (especially from Zac Efron) powerful film. I just knew the bare minimum about these guys, but damn, a very tragic story indeed. The only real issue is that, even...

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire 7/10 Although I think this is a small step down from Godzilla vs. Kong, I still had a good time with this movie. The monster action is once again a blast, very well directed with top notch CGI and really good sound design (WB will understandably be pushing Dune 2 in ...

I was more referring to Minus One affecting critical reviews of GxK, as folks are inevitably making comparisons. Regardless, I can see why this one is making a killing at the box office.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (Harkins Cine XL): Borderlands (not particularly excited to see this before every movie until August) Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Twisters Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Furiosa Went from the excess of Cinemark's trailer lineups, to Harkins which likes to keep it short.

Re: Tranny Tackles the Cinema: The Films of 3/29
I honestly wonder if the glowing reception for Godzilla Minus One is affecting reviews of this. I still have yet to see that due to radio silence regarding a US home release, so maybe that'll benefit my GxK viewing experience.

Definitely in on The Bad Guys 2 as I quite liked the original. It should see a substantial boost in box office this time assuming they get it right.

Looks like a great time! It seems they've pulled a Scream 3 with Captain Howard's character.

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep
Road House 4/10 No bueno. To be honest, I've never seen the original outside of bits and pieces on cable TV. I went into this remake expecting dumb cheesy fun, but what I got was largely a boring slog with flat characters, mostly bad acting, action that's average at best, a totally unengaging story...

I saw Frozen Empire with a large audience yesterday, and the reaction was pretty muted other than some occasional laughs.

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire 5/10 As someone who thought Afterlife was really good, I think this is a huge regression sadly. Although there is enjoyment to be had, there are BIG problems here. First off, the story is a complete mess. It's as overstuffed as can be, with about a dozen characters compe...
